C'mon man. The squeeze play is a thing of beauty when properly executed. Heck, the Tigers scored 2 runs on one safety squeeze a few weeks back!!

A squeeze bunt is a lot different than bunting your power hitter with no one on in the second inning just so his slow arse can stand on first base and the old heads can feel good about their outdated baseball opinions.

Getting rid of the shift is further evidence of the "it's not fair", "everyone gets a trophy" pussification of America. If they shift on you - HIT IT THE OTHER WAY!!

No one watches baseball to see someone hit into a shift.

They want to see hitters get big hit
Pitchers get strikeouts
And fielder snake spectacular plays.

They don’t want to see a play lay down a bunt or line out to 1 of 5 fielders on a side of a field who took 3 steps

Batting averages against shift are actually like .001 different. People even whining about this are low baseball IQ fans

The shift has been a part of baseball for generations, it's just now players are not wanting to adjust to how the defense lines up or how the pitchers are pitching.

Like I said I’m not sure where I line up on this and I understand what you are saying at every level except at the MLB level. The pitchers are so good they just pitch to the shift and they rarely miss their spots. People will say “just go away from the shift” like it’s easy to take an upper 90’s inside fastball or a slider breaking in at your hands and just hit it the other way.

My point is I see arguments on both sides and they make sense. If you want to grow the game of baseball the three true outcomes that the sport has turned into isn’t it. Maybe eliminating the shift will open the game up for some guys that just put the ball in play.

They’re giving away the bunt. Which means they’re giving up first base. You put your standard left handed power hitter on first base it’s going to take at least two hits to score him. The offense knows that and the defense knows that. He has no value on first base.

Do you want to ban the IBB too?

It's simply this. Pitchers have more control today and throwing harder. They have a guy in college throwing 104 mph now. If he's living on the inside part of the plate, you can't just "hit that the other way". Its almost impossible with the shape of the bat. You'll get nothing but dribblers off of the handles
