I watched Southern beat LSU’s arse a few years ago. I don’t think the Southern pitcher had ever started a game, and their field looked like the ones we built in pastures when I was a kid. LSU had a good team that year.

I've watched too many baseball games to know this will backfire on us at some point. But I can't pass up the opportunity to say "It sucks... to be... a Florida Gator."

Baseball is like that, so it means very little in the long run.

However, there is something special about opening day and it would suck as a fan or player to be hyped up about having a highly ranked team only to get the wind knocked out of you right off the bat.

The other thing about opening day is that the competition may be more like a midweek game, but you have your Friday starter on the mound.

Is caglione the Friday night guy for Florida this year?

(I know I probably butchered the spelling but don’t care enough to look it up)

He will most likely only pitch Sundays. If he pitches on Friday he most likely wouldn’t be able to DH Saturday and Sunday. Him pitching on Sundays allows him to hit all three days.
