Crowton is not the right guy for LSU.
He very well may not be, but was still a great hire when Les made it(and almost everyone agreed with that at the time), and I have no doubt he'll find a pretty good job after he leaves. He is a very well respected offensive mind. Just because Bubba from Baker disagrees does not make it so.

If he sucks so much, how come he keeps getting these pretty prestigious positions?
When I read that line I thought maybe you were talking about Obama.
If Crowton is so good as a coordinator, why do his offenses get worse the longer he is at a school?

We had a pretty good offensive line in '07 and '08. You idiots are so knee-jerk. You assume 1 bad season = that coach fricking sucks.
We ranked 43rd in the nation in rushing and have declined EACH of the last 2 years. We gave up 30, 22, 35 sacks on 07, 08, and 09 respectively.
Stud put up 1 season of good numbers in the running game. . .his 1st year.
1 year can be a fluke. Two years is called a trend.

Are we allowed to use them?

Everyone else had two loses as well.

First, assistant coaching jobs are more about WHO you know than anything else. Either way, coaches who aren't very good usually don't last longer than, oh say, 3-4 years at any major program...
Hmmmm....
But I digress
Believe it or not, Crowton schemes themselves are not the problem. It's the fact that NOTHING in said schemes/playcalling changes from year to year.
I was considering giving Crowton a mulligan this year, until I really sat down and watched the arkansas game. Willy Robinson, probably one of the worst DC's in the conference, was able to correctly guess the offensive playcall nearly 70 percent of the time. Well, lets say 50 percent in the first half, and close to 90!!!! percent in the second half.
Long story short, the league's DC's have this man figured out. It's happened at BYU, Oregon, and now LSU.
The different personnel packages/ formations/ smoke and mirrors(which is what made the 2007 offense so effective, and Crowton's forte as OC) are not fooling anyone anymore. That is NOT a debatable point.
That all said, I think it is actually fair to give him one more year. The facts are his options at QB are a Soph, a RSSoph, and a true freshman whose arm makes Jefferson look like Dan Marino in practice; combined with that he is working with the worst O-Line I have seen at LSU since the mid-90s.
He has the most inexperience at the 2 most important positions for any effective offense(QB, interior line)
IMO, its next year or bust for Crowton.

Crowton will never be a head coach again...this I know.
He'll land as an OC out west, where he's a better fit. He needs to be the OC at a place like Nevada or even UNLV or New Mexico where he can get some red chip athletes and just play catch in a decent system against average to below offenses. His style is just not right for the SEC. Just not.

I don't care what you people say! We beat the #1 team in the country. We were #2 at the time. That makes us the BCS National Champion and undisputed national champion in the Polls.
Buzz off and go preach doom and gloom at Tulane, where it is more appropriate.

This is what they said about Meyer.

Sure, as long as you mention that his 1st year was with a 23-year-old 5th year SR, while his next 2 were with a 19-year-old RSFR and a 19-year-old true SO.
And that's one of the reasons I wanted Crowton fired--I don't think we should have to forfeit every season we have a young QB. But I also am smart enough to realize that we may be good next year--even really good, possibly. I just can't take anybody seriously who says "We will NEVER be good with Crowton and Miles," or "We will NEVER win the SEC as long as Saban and Meyer are there." You know how I know they're stupid? Because less than 2 years ago, we did ALL that shite.

This is what they said about Meyer.
1) sustained consistent success at his previous stops.
2) evidence that his system works in the SEC

how does he keep getting fired carl?
I'm sure crowton is an impressive interview. He's very intelligent and knows a lot about the game, but as a playcaller he's fricking terrible.

We did not back into the title game. Teams ahead of us lost. We were ranked no. 5 in the polls the 2 thru 4 lost. This is not backing in. It is teams losing games they should have won. Tiger fans complaining even when we win the NC. AMAZING!

crowton has yet to show me any part of "his" offense that would make me confident in him. The 07 offense was still pretty heavy jimbo/pro style.
