Wisconsin has the bruisers. LSU traditionally struggles with gigantic, slow Big 10 teams, going back 40 years. But what kind of idiot says that and expects to have any credibility.

He is supposed to say it will be a great game with a pair of matched teams but he went out of his way to say the SEC and LSU would be outclassed in so many words. Look up the interview on line.

I can't find any information that shows that Anderson said this. Are you sure this isn't selective hearing?

Id like to know if he REALLY said that. Seems like a lot of times some of our posters hear what they want to hear and misquote interviews.

I would have to agree with some of what you said, yes I paraphrased the "Out Classed" remark but not the clear meaning of what he MEANT.

I did not paraphrase the first vowel on what he said about the Big 10 better than the SEC Hand's Down nor did I paraphrase him saying they played a tougher game of football.

Believe or not, True

Promise, not selective hearing, it is why I posted it. The radio interview was at around Today @ 12:30pm, give or take a few minutes, 100.3 FM out of Ft. Walton, FL

It would have been nice if you could have listened to this on the phone and had it recorded.

Boy, I'll be ready next time. I just called the Station, they are actually out of Niceville, FL but I think one of the transmitters are in Ft. Walton.

100.3 FM in Ft. Walton is The Ticket and their website says that timeslot is the Jim Rome Show. Rome tweeted two hours ago that he was interviewing Gary Andersen. So there will be an archive/podcast of it at some point (if not now, but I don't see one).

When I called the station just now they said it was the Rome Show but I did not know for sure and I did not want to put out mis-information. So we should be able to hear the POD Cast and I can be vindicated, best yet the Tiger Team can hear for themselves and rear play it over and over till Aug 30th

He could say that the Big 10 is as competitive as the SEC not the BEST football conference Hand's Down. That's just ludicrous.

Meh, if I was a head coach in the MAC and someone asked me what I thought of the conference, I'd probably say it's the best conference in football.

Nobody would ever take you seriously if you did that. You could say you think the MAC is underrated. You could say you think MAC teams can compete with teams from the power conferences. But if you said that the MAC was the best conference in football, you'd just get ridiculed and criticized for it, even worse than Rex Ryan was when he guaranteed the Jets would win the Super Bowl.

Obviously you have to defend your team and your conference, but saying something stupid like "the Big 10 is better than the SEC hands down" is just counterproductive.

2:16--"Tremendous respect for LSU, we know they are a great team, and there's two great teams playing."

5:55--Rome asks Andersen about his prior quote: "When you combine the whole package, the Big 10 is the best conference. You can debate all you want, but you're wrong."

Andersen: "Well, I just think week-in and week-out we play at a very, very high level. It's physicality. The coaching is very good, which it is in all the conferences, whether it's the SEC or wherever you want to talk. But you know, your home is your home, and what you believe in is what you believe in. I'm in the Big 10, and I've been through that, I've been through the cycle, so my vision is that the Big 10 is the best conference I've been around, that I've been associated with. I think we can play with anybody on any given Saturday, or Friday, or whenever that game may be. We have tremendous kids in this conference, great coaches, great universities. It prepare kids for life--which ultimately is the most important thing to me--is when they walk out of here are they prepared for life.

What he said wasn't that bad at all. Gave praise to the SEC and all the other conferences, talked about the change of pace from Utah St. to Wisky and praised the competition in his own conference.

This is all typical coach rhetoric.
