I went on Stubhub to see if there were some seats near mine so my father could come with us to the game, not expecting to find any. Holy Shyt there are a ton of tickets online for half the price these 'Opted In' people paid for the tickets.

I could have opted out and paid less to go to the games. Why is this so?

You can find tickets at the gates for less than face value every year.

I’ve bought tickets at less than face value many times.

Maybe the fact that it was a day game and it was fairly hot in the sun, but there was much less than 25% at the Miss. St. game. At least for the first game, a lot of tickets must have gone unused.

Most home games in the past I couldn’t give tickets away, I either leave them on a bench or end up selling to scalpers for fraction of cost to buy me a beer or kids concessions

Not sure about this year, since everyone has to use the app.. I am thinking anyone with extra tickets will just send out a mass text and transfer them to a friend. I am afraid the secondary market buyers on campus are not going to have it made like they have the past several years.

Those sketchy dudes selling tickets on the corner won't be able to operate now that everything is virtual. In theory, I guess you could buy tickets from a legit ticketholder outside the stadium and they could transfer the tickets to you via smartphone. But at the Miss. St. game it was a ghost town outside the stadium. Even thought there were a lot more tickets than demand, you probably couldn't have found anyone selling tickets.

Really going to miss seeing black dudes wearing a green or blue shirt on game days on Skip Bertman Dr., holding a laminated sign reading, “I need tickets,” while holding 20 tickets that they are trying to sell. These poor alumni have been a staple.
