During the broadcast they said they told Rhymes that SB had 7 draft pickes and he didn't know about it

Seems like everybody took SB lightly as the 4 seed

Eh, the draft was Monday and Tuesday...and most of the players aren't reading blogs and reports for hours on end.

I want 7 homers and a football score to win a super regional again

I got a football score I guess... and the way the LSU football offense played at points this past season... this is the same kind of result I could of expected

Credit to Stony Brook for their superior play this weekend

SB is a different animal than I have seen from a team in some time. Had the right mix of strategy, luck, leadership, and resolve.

May not see anything like it ever! Their ability to battle opposing pitchers and execute as two-strike hitters defy logic. Think about it--do your think you are more likely to succeed by taking one good cut at a baseball, or three cuts??? WITH INTENT SB hitters took pitches and fouled off others without real harm/and drove solid hits into the defense time and time again! Our pitchers couldn't wait for batters to be retired because it is hard for any pitcher to deliver strikes over and over again and not get a timely result!

I suppose Stony Brook determined before the game--that WE will decide this game ON OUR TERMS and not LSU!

A pass goes to the home team for effort

As to the coach and his puzzled look

but hitting and fielding sub par

Hitting was slightly improved from last year, still substandard, I don't care what the gogglers say about runs scored on the season, etc. Look at the SECT stats and the real post-season. OF defense is sub-par given the lack of speed and defensive talent, but the IF D this season was stellar for the vast majority of the season. No team can afford to put up 1-3 hits through 6-8 innings every SR game and expect to post W's. Stony Brook is a hell of a team, but LSU batting lineup helped make their pitchers look All World, too. Fields must have really PO'd Mainieri in game 2 to put that slow footed configuration in the OF in game 3 to start. I would not be surprised if LSU starters honestly said SB had the toughest hitting lineup they faced all year, those guys took care of business.

We should hire their hitting coach. All those guys had sweet looking short compact swings. They hit line drives. They had a good game plan at the plate depending on the pitcher.

It was also evident how much speed they had in the OF. If you hit a fly ball it better get out or they were on it. And with our longer looping swings(except for rhymes)we hit a lot of fly balls.
