I think CPM's coaching history has a bit to do with the OOC scheduling. By that I mean the regions that he brings OOC opponents in from.

I see Lester is on his annual bitching crusade about the OOC schedule. He can't use his usual reason "it doesn't prepare us for the SEC part of the schedule" since we won the conference last year.

He refuses to acknowledge the financial reasons.

Those schools he keeps preaching about LSU should be playing would insist upon a home and home series. Every OOC away game costs LSU $125,000 just in ticket sales. When Skip was coaching he didn't have the debt to repay for a new stadium which the program has now.

The northern schools need to travel to start the season and don't require a return series for coming here.

But I guess Lester knows best....

So LSU is undefeated in games you've attended?

I don't care if LSU baseball is $200B in debt, we still shouldn't be playing in-state school on the weekend.

The schedule really is about money. That much is painfully obvious.

That being said, can still schedule UH, USM, UCF, dallas baptist, charleston southern, etc.

And you know this how?

Stetson and Houston both insisted upon a return series in order to play here. That's why we played a three game series at their places.

Pepperdine didn't and they played a two game weekend series in BR 3 years ago. Cal St Fullerton didn't and they played 3 games here 2 seasons ago. Central Florida has been here twice during Mainieri's tenure.

Or Notre Dame? Or Kansas? Or Illinois? Or Wake Forest? Or Pepperdine? Or Cal St Fullerton? Or Michigan? Or Air Force? Or Appalachian St? ( Oh, wait, they beat us 2 out 3 games last year here!)

None of those northern schools are good.

You always get butthurt over this.

You don't think our OOC could be better? More competitive?

No les

Playing teams that can't practice outside better prepares LSU for conference play

What have I written that makes me appear to be butt hurt? You bring this subject up every season in spite of any reasonable argument as to the invalidity of your logic.

For example....
quote:

I didn't just mention northern schools. I also mentioned Appalachian St, UCF, Cal St Fullerton and Pepperdine who all made the NCAA regionals round last season. In addition the team we play this week, Sacred Heart, also made a regional last season as did Michigan St, a northern school, who we played as part of our early season OOC schedule in BR a few seasons ago under Mainieri.

There's another thread on the first page here with a link that says LSU's RPI is #1 currently and its strength of schedule is currently # 5, so, yes I suppose the OOC schedule could be improved upon. We could have a SOS of 4, 3, 2, or 1 in the country. Would you be satisfied then?

Pretty sure all those schools would want a return trip from LSU.
