He really wasn't better in the cape if you really look at the numbers.

I agree he's much better than this. I think it's a purely mental thing, he's completely checked out. Bregman, Rhymes, Katz and Ibarra are all carrying this team right now and he's simply playing one side of the game right now and letting others take care of the other.

He was one of the team's better hitters last year.
You can't just make up history and say he was worse last year than he really was. He was about a million times better than Nola or Hanover, and he was better than Ross when it counted, and Ross had a great year hitting last season too.
It's NOT purely a mental thing. He's clearly doing something mechanically wrong, and obviously, that's affecting his state of mind. It sure as hell isn't fun going up to bat every game as a starter on a hot team when you're a preseason All-American hitting below .200 and everybody expected you to be better.

It's definitely mental to me, if you're not mentally in it you take the swings he's taking (lazy) and look bad mechanically
