Basically, the only saving grace for the coach is to win.
I think everyone agrees on that.

I was appalled. And quite frankly, still am. That shite is embarrassing.
Yes, yes it was.

I can tell you that Skip wasn't happy with it. I sat next to him in a suite for a couple of innings (I got really lucky Saturday night and had a great night at the Box) and he was yelling at Mainieri
He wanted to see Poche try to finish the game.

Skip mad about taking out a freshman pitcher? Color me shocked.
Lane Mestepey 2001 (freshman season)
3.75 ERA, 11-3 W-L, 22 appearances, 19 games started, 4 complete games, 139.1 IP, 550 ABs against.

I agreed with Mainieri. If you search the Saturday thread, I was ready for Broussard to start the 9th. It was a 1 run game, we needed the win more than Poche needed a complete game. Poche "induced" a couple of hard outs in the 8th. His velocity was down to 85-86 mph. 9, 1, 2 in the lineup was due.
So I will have to say that I disagree with Skip.

He threw EIGHT complete games in 2002.

Yeah he threw his hands up and said something along the lines of, "Of course, never let the pitcher finish the game, NO COMPLETE GAMEZ!!!!"

In my day, when we started a game, we were going to finish by God, even if it took 182 pitches to get it done.
Get of my lawn!!!

They were playing back for the DP.

They were playing back in the middle, in on the corners. You plan on bunting up the middle?
