LSU will also host the 2020 Wally Pontiff, Jr. Classic at Alex Box Stadium. This game will not be a part of the 2020 regular-season home package and ticket information for the classic will be announced in the coming week

LSU always fricks this game up and only shows it on COX. I’m an Eatel subscriber so it pisses me off. Never understood why they shut out half their viewers for this one game every year.

Maybe because Cox refurbished a building on LSU's campus?

Maybe because a lot of non-ESPN/CBS stuff is on CST?

What does COX refurbishing a building have to do with LSU shutting half it’s local fans for 1 game every year? The building is all fine and good but it doesn’t help little Joey in Gonzales get to know LSU’s players. IMO it’s just not a good marketing move; especially for a game like the Wally Pontiff Classic.

I guess when Eatel gives LSU 5.5 million dollars to renovate a building they can have their own game, too. Maybe the bigger question is why the large national corporation is supporting LSU athletics and the local corporation is not.

I’m not in the Cox footprint either so yea it sucks for me but come one. Almost every other game is available through basic cable or streaming. I miss MAYBE 3 games a year living in north Louisiana without cox.

Take little Joey to the game. Since tickets to this game are not part of season tickets there will be plenty of them available to the general public.

WHo would like them to have televise the game? Techincally it's not an LSU home game.

I’m always baffled by LSU’s approach to this game every year. I’ve never understood what they think they gain by doing this game any different from the rest of their normal TV schedule. They literally shut out a large portion of their normal TV audience. Maybe their approach to this game creates a different revenue stream I’m not appreciating. On the surface, from a marketing standpoint, it seems counterproductive.

Corporate sponsorship money talks.

Eatel needs to buy the right to televise the game.

The idea is to get as many tickets sold as possible so the WP31 Foundation can raise the max amount of money. LSU doesn't benefit a dime from this game.

Like I said in another post, when this game is held in New Orleans it is not an LSU home game and thus doesn't fall under the SEC TV contract. Much like other non-conference road games, LSU has no say on who televises it.

The Wally Pontiff Foundation puts on this game not LSU.

Because LSU is only a participant in the game. The game is put on by the Pontiff family. Essentially what you are asking is why doesn't LSU have more control over the broadcast of the games we're playing at Minute Maid this year. It's the same situation.

LSU doesn't have control who broadcasts their away games. I'm not sure how the neutral site game works.
