In all seriousness, I'm with you man. During the Olympic Baseball Team's BP sessions in 1996 (using the -5 bats), Warren Morris was putting balls into bleachers never hit by the likes of Fred McGriff. Warren Morris!!
I was witness to some of those bombs. There were shots that looked as if that had a legit chance on being upper deck in FCS. That was some fun shite to watch.

It was awesome. I just wanted to prove the point of how lethal the bats during the mid to late 90's time period.

Warren Morris vs. Miami.
Maybe not the furthest but, certainly the biggest.
But, that was Roesenblatt , not the box.

I forgot about some of the shots this kid would unload. I do believe he had one of these storied married student complex bombs. That kid could mash.

In 91 my high school baseball went to a game against nicholls st and mouton put one on top of the apartments behind left field.my coach said it was prolly close to 500 ft or over.

The longest ball I seen hit was by Brad Wilkerson-Florida, probably '97.
The foul ball he hit in '97, not the actual fair ball, was the longest ball I ever saw hit at the Box. Bo was second, I guess you could call it 1st since his was fair. I think Mouton hit the furthest bombs I can recall as far as the Tigers go. Someone mentioned on page 2 or 3 that they didn't remember Hymel hitting any long ones. He hit some towering shots to left that rivaled Mouton. Grisham was up there too.

Del Unser, MSU,
Please don't bring back the bad memories from 1980. I haven't heard his name for over 20 years, still cry about him beating the Astros in game 5. Still seems like yesterday to me. I am glad you mentioned it, it is interesting to know that.

There have been so many long home runs its tough to recall which one went the furthest.
Without a doubt though the HARDEST hit ball I saw at the Box was not even a home run. Frank Thomas hit a double off the top of the wall that was a line drive that never got higher than the top of the fence. It was so loud when it hit the wall I thought the fence would come down.
Mouton hit one into the third deck in the Superdome one year.

Yeah, I am gonna stay with Mouton as my pick in the '90 regionals.
Then, for opposition, Cruz, Jr. of Rice in '95 regionals and Breet Boone in '90 regionls are neck and neck. Cruz's was so damn high...no telling how far it truly went.

i remember an old LSU player telling me that Jeff Winchester hit on his SR year in HS at an LSU camp that was the furtherest ball he had seen hit out at Alex Box in his 5 years there.

Christ! I remember that shot. He got every bit of it. Not only hit long, but very high.

Are yall calling the bats of the 90s lethal b/c they were -5 or because of what they were made out of?
I talked with a player who was on both the 1996 and 1997 teams and he told me that he used a -3 along with many of the other starters even though a -5 was legal. Alot of guys liked the heavier bat.
