Bingo. The answer has to be either Furniss or Larson due to the "Bat Factor". I know Furniss hit one across Nicholson.

I saw Belle crush a ball that struck "Married Student Housing." That guy was a BEAST!!!

Nobody beat Mickey Mantle's record during the juiced ball era in MLB, so why should this be true for college baseball? The bat factor turned pop flies into HRs, but it didn't produce record length HRs. There's just no way Furniss or Larson were capable of hitting a ball as far as Mouton could. No way.

it is Mouton in the 1991 season using one of the old specifications Easton bats and he legitimately hit a ball on the roof of the Married Student Housing Apartments because I saw it with my own two eyes

every old time marshal I have ever talked to are in agreement it is Mouton

So it can turn a 330 ft fly ball to 375 ft HR, BUT IT CANNOT turn a 420 ft HR into a 465 ft HR?? That makes a lot of sense...

I'm not disputing that Larson/Furniss was more powerful than Mouton/Belle. I can only imagine how far Mouton could hit a ball with the late 90's juiced bats...

Yes, really. It was Brad Wilkerson

Well, apparently it's true. Welcome to the weird world of physics. You can actually hit a ball farther with a heavier bat (see e.g., Babe Ruth). The trade-off is that you have to hit the ball perfect because your bat is slower and harder to wield.

The longest ball I seen hit was by Brad Wilkerson-Florida, probably '97. Unless there was a stiff breeze once it went over, I'm not sure how it would have hit the athletic dept building. The ball was hit right down the line, the only ? was fair or foul. It was hit so high there was really no way to tell. I think they just gave it to him thinking anybody hits a ball that hard deserves a HR.

That's a perfect description of that shot. I couldn't see if it hit the building, but I watched sail WAY across Nicholson and never saw it hit.

Another guy that hasn't been mentioned here was Nate Dunn. I saw him hit the 2nd story of Married Student housing in a game once (I think it was the '96 season).

I'm familiar with the physics behind it. Its a combo of mass and acceleration (both equal)

BTW, A lot of the prolific sluggers use lighter bats to increase acceleration (ie Bonds), so it works both ways.

He did. If I remember correctly that was the one that broke the NCAA record for most home runs in a season.

You don't know what you are talking about. First of all the "juiced ball era" was in the mid 90's. Mantle played in the era where expansion diluted the quality of pitching resulting in a greater QUANTITY of homeruns. If you are going to spout off about physics you should understand that the greatest factors in the length of homeruns are bat speed resistance. Lighter bats produce the greatest bat speed. All things being equal (bat weight, impact point on the bat and the strength of the batter)....the quicker bat speed through the strike zone will produce the longer homerun.

I'm talking about Mantle's record for length. What are you talking about?

But all things aren't equal, because you have a lighter bat. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Is that the little blonde-headed baby faced guy that was their top reliever? He reminded me of my cousin. Usually when he came in, game over.

If so, I was there for that game winning shot by MM that went over into the Tiger Stadium parking lot. I can still remember the look on the kids face, absolutely stunned! Longest HR I ever saw at the Box and I saw a lot of them! Also, MM hit that with a wooden bat.

I know no one is going to believe this but I swear it's true. Vaughn Meiners hit a hr that WOBBLED over the left field corner just inside the foul pole! The thing was hit so that I first thought it was gonna be a pop-up but it just kept going and going and barely cleared the fence. You could actually see the thing wobbling through the air. Damnedest thing I ever saw in a baseball game!

Ya'll have pretty much touched on all the ones I remember at the box, but does anyone remember the shot Cresse hit at Zephyr field. That park is huge and he hit it out to Left Center half way up the light poll. I didn't see it after that, but i wouldn't be suprised if it ended up on Airline.

Great shots; but there has to be an acknowledgement of the use of super jungle juice(if you know what I mean) and the minus 5 plus bats that were used then. I mean this is pretty much a fact.
