Their infield on average are 5’11.5” we average 5’10.6”

And that is including Altuve who is 6 inches shorter than any other I field Starter.

Their SS is 6’ 4”

Their SS is an outlier. If the SS lost 6 inches and Altuve gained 4 what would the averages be for both teams?

The sole purpose of your thread is to insult other posters?

Isn't this what laughing at someone usually involves? If they are not doing a stand-up routine or trying to be funny it is to me. The most comical things on Earth are when stupid people take themselves seriously and think the LSU baseball team is out of the tournament because they are too small.

What is your opinion on why LSU baseball once again underachieved?

Is there a thread for this? I haven't looked.

It's doing okay. EVEN With you posting in it.

Size doesn’t really matter. But look at some of those weights. LSU has a small team

Look at some of the names associated with those weights. Zach Watson and the LSU all-time hits leader. Who would you cut for a 6-4 230 pound intimidating monster that strikes out a lot?

Their SS is not an outlier.

I meant Altuve was an MLB outlier.

There are far and away more 6’4” players than 5’6”.

Correa isn’t the tallest Player in the league.

AND including Altuve they are still taller on average.

You should have just started this thread saying “altuve is short so it’s ok that we are short”

PM has gone for the shortstop/speedy mold of late.

Which would be fine if they actually played small ball, station to station, bunt etc, etc. But they don't. When was the last time LSU had a player that was considered a good bunter and they used him in that role. Hal Hughes should have been bunting from the minute he stepped on campus.

Would you cut the all-time LSU hits leader?

Does his small stature matter?

You can't afford to have a line up of 7 guys going 190 or under. That's the problem.

Thanks for bringing this to light, Tiger Ree. This is very interesting and something I did not know, although I never paid attention to the size of players.

the size of our players has nothing to do with the problems of our program. your point is valid.

Would I cut him? Huh?

He’s small. That’s all I said, which is the whole premise of your thread.

MLB average by position:

C - 6-1, 215
1B - 6-3, 227
2B - 5-11, 191
SS - 6-0, 191
3B - 6-1, 211
LF - 6-1, 203
CF - 6-1, 197
RF - 6-3, 216

Saul Garza is the only above average sized player LSU has relative to their position.

That is a huge stretch isn't it?

That is what is listed for him on the Astros' MLB official site. Boy been eating good and growing since he has been in Houston. He is now taller than me.

I can't wait for the infomercials - "How to grow 4 in inches in a couple years while in your 20's featuring all-star 3rd baseman Alex Bregman wearing elevator shoes".

It's certainly not the biggest problem (no pun intended), but it points to a disconnect in overall program building. If you recruit a bunch of short stops and small, quick outfielders, you'd think your team would be more aggressive on the bases and play more small ball.

Independently, there is nothing wrong with a smaller player, but collectively they fail to compliment one another at the plate.

difference is - maybe just one of those LSU player named will make it to a big league roster.
