Kellen Mond fumble ruled down

Vs

Mond only had one hand on the ball. Brooks had two.

And they had enough evidence to reverse the Mond play. How was there not enough evidence to uphold the Brooks play?

Completely inconsistent.

If a player touches the ball while out of bounds, isn't that a penalty?

Guys, You are embarrassing yourselves. He did not have possession, because he didn’t control it long enough to have possession; Mond did. If Mond had bobbled it as he stood up, he would not have been ruled down. It’s like y’all never watched football before.

1 hand on the ball = possession
2 hands on the ball playing against Bama = no possession

So Mond only had possession based on what he did after his knee was down and therefore retroactively had possession when his knee was down?

And you think we are stupid?

Fumble rules are different than catch rules. You need to stop embarrassing yourself.

Quantity of hands touching a ball doesn't constitute possession. The ball was rolling around thru the LSU players hand and under his body. The ball never moved around in Monds 1 hand.

IN MY OPINION

Brooks was not down, his knees are not on the ground, Mond had knees on the ground.

Yea. After the Bama guy hit it.

Which was after brooks had already established possession with his knee on the ground.

How long do you have to possess the ball to possess it?

There is another picture with his knee on the ground I just couldn’t find it.

Not sure but I think it's longer than the .1 second the LSu player was touching it.

If a wide receiver goes out of bounds (on his own) and is the first to touch the ball it is a penalty.

The issue for me is, this should have been a ‘play stands as called’ decision. Because that’s exactly what it WOULD have been if the fumble was by LSU and the recovery by the red team.

My opinion - you are free to just let me have it and I’ll continue to brood about it.

How long is long enough. Is it normally timed with a stop watch? Such a stupid comment.

He is allowed to reestablish himself inbounds. Think Moss in 2019

From NCAA rule book for definition of possession.

quote:

The ball is in player possession when a player has the ball firmly in their grasp by holding or controlling it with hand(s) or arm(s) while contacting the ground inbounds.

No mention of the amount of time.

They might want to rethink the rule. A player can’t be out of bounds and make a catch without getting completely back on the field but they can impact a loose ball? Weird.
