Good info. But we will just have to agree to disagree on Fudge, a guy like him doesn’t just have a ways to go as far as developing skill set, he has light years to go. A guy like Naz Reid was a project, but the skills were somewhat there already. Fudge was completely out of his league playing SEC ball.

I'm fairly certain Fudge was one of if not the player Wade was referring to when towards the end of the season Wade harped on some player(s) who were not practicing like they can play...if you look at Fudge's trajectory last season he went from a regular rotation guy to by the end of the season was lucky to see a few minutes in a game. He also just seemed to never really develop into his potential as the year went along. Remember those 2023 NBA draft projections suddenly having him in there as a NBA pick, and it felt like once those popped up he just got worse and worse and fell off the map.
He's got the length and athleticism to be an NBA player but he really needs to get it put together, which he can, he's got 3 more years...but he's certainly got a long way to go. He could hardly be trust with the ball in his hands last season for more than a catch and dunk situation, he was in the wrong spots at times offensively and especially defensively which drove Wade crazy. His offensive ability was just so limited.
I think he could be a good player but he has to put in the work in a big way which I dont think he was necessarily doing here.

If the expectation is for him to develop into a Naz Reid type of skill-set, then yes, he's a long way from that goal. But if you are looking for a young guy who can defend, rebound, protect the rim, and dive to the bucket off the pick and roll, he's got plenty of ability there. Though he is taller, Jaxon Hays with the Pelican's had a similar skill set. He went No. 8 in the draft. Fudge is not at that level yet...but his raw traits very much fit what NBA scouts love.
This...
and this always translate

If you are comparing him to Jaxson Hayes then his ceiling is a poor mans Hayes. Smaller, and less skilled by light years.

would have loved to have kept alex fudge

Hayes is still mostly just a rim runner on offense and rim protector on defense. That's essentially Fudge's skill set right now. However, Fudge can guard the perimeter a bit better. Hayes is a better "prospect" simply because he is 3-4 inches taller than Fudge. But the point was that a guy doesn't necessarily have to be a tremendously skilled young college player to be coveted by NBA scouts. They see the raw athletic traits and think about what the guy could become. Fudge would have been a great young player to keep, mold and develop.

I can see where our former players feel the need to go elsewhere. I don't appreciate or respect that they sign with one of our rivals in the SEC. Why are all of you "fans" supporting him when he obviously had not the slightest loyalty to the University, just to Wade. And he is one of those players that we were told NBA scouts liked but, gee, they just never did anything on the court for us. If you notice Wade stopped putting him in games at all or just for a minute or two. Yes, he is very young and can improve but until he does he is just a mediocre player.

I agree K.J. Williams would be huge. Have watched Murray State's games and the guy is very legit. I knew he was in the transfer portal but didn't know he was going to try to go pro.

Well, he hasn’t lived up to that supposed NBA grade so far. Who knows, maybe he does at FLA.
