to think of replacing him is not treating him unfairly.

The two week shite-show was treating the university, football team, and the constantly shite-on fans unfairly. This stupid shite only happens in the cesspool known as Louisiana.

Losing 3 straight by double digits and the current trend of the offense is what's really sad.

How dare the AD try to keep LSU relevant as a football program, its almost as if Alleva thought that was his job or something.

I had this exact same thought...it could bolster Miles on the recruiting trail.

If the plus side of this is Miles gets top recruits and fields a stronger team, so be it, and I would love it. I can't stand Miles as a coach, but I support the team.

There was a hire. Hence no need for a statement. Then the hire fell through. Then the statement.
If this happened 3-4days before aTm, I'm a bit disgusted.

Key the "Miles organized a Sat nite pity party" crowd.

Punter is a senior, so, they've got to find another, either way.

It's on the boosters and Alleva.

I think they are getting tired of not getting anything on the ridiculous amount of money they have just thrown at Miles. They want championships, they want discipline, they want a return on their investment. They see the value of it decreasing, and in conference(where it matters) LSU is a punching bag, and offensively, a joke.

Alleva didn't back up his employee. Either get behind your guy or just fire him

This is so dumb. You don 't "back up" an employee when their job status is actually in question. Alleva said nothing had been decided, wouldn't be decided until after the final game, and he wouldn't have a final comment until then. That's exactly what happened. The fact that the holier than thou press ignored that isn't relevant.

What was Alleva supposed to do? A.) Lie and say Miles was safe when he wasn't? or B.) Fire him without a succession plan in place to make ESPN happy?

You are right. But the only people mad about this are the Miles supporters. They are mad about how it was handled because they like Miles on a personal level. Had nothing to do with football. The outpouring of sympathy for him was all personal. Just see UGA for an example. Not one single frick was given there.

I have no problem with a coach upgrade except for professionalism of it's undertaking, and it has much to do with football.......unless you think recruiting and national perception of LSUAD mean nothing.
Very possible the fiasco could raise a red flag with a future coveted coaching (or recruiting) candidate with multiple offers.

You can support Miles and the program both as long as he is the HC. Support in support at least. What is bad is terrible PR backlash and paying out buy outs (regardless if it is from private sector sources) when the LSU system is struggling financially. There are more at stake then three straight losses. If the offense does not change and there is no improvement in Ws and Ls then CLM will have to go anyways. Hopefully next time it is handled much better.

Les Miles has become a major media figure. Every 17- or 18-year-old prospect saw how the fans and players on the team rallied around Miles. The thought is "Hey, I want to play for that guy too."

So this is going to help recruiting?

Believe it or not it could. We may end up with top three and if some things play right we still have a chance at number one (although not likely). Miles knows heck a lot more about recruiting then any of the so called experts on here and elsewhere. The vast majority of folks on here would run our program to the ground if in an alternate universe they magically became the HC.

Miles's biggest hurdle remains his own stubbornness and ineptitude.

Treat your fans like customers, and they’ll behave that way, reducing their irrational love for their team to a cool-headed, dollars-and-cents decision to buy tickets, with all the emotion of buying new tires. After a friend of mine took his kids to a game, he told me, “Michigan athletics used to feel like something we shared. Now it’s something they hoard. Anything of value they put a price tag on. And what’s been permanently banished is any sense of generosity.”

Replace Michigan with LSU, and this is what it has become.

The mistake was the leak, and that dumbass BOS willing to be quoted, but who knows if Alleva had anything to do with that. I doubt he is that stupid though. UGA did it right. No leaks.

His biggest hurdle is his coaching, the people who cared about the future of the program had a plan in place to replace him the fans and media who care more about Miles than the program wanted to keep him regardless of the decline. You seem to support Miles not the program
