With Kiffin possibly headed to ole miss, can we get Frank in as a consultant for the remaining games? I'd hate for kiffin to bring him in before we have a chance to bring him home.

What can Kiffin offer him that we can’t? He needs an OC and that ain’t Frank.

As many have said, it’s probably Robinson’s last year here.

I'm confident this has been in the works already assuming it's what O wants

Kiffin's the oc and if he can bring in a top notch recruiter and give him the title of oc, that may be enough to lure frank.

He does that and he’ll fail. He brought in Briles as OC to actually help with game planning and calling plays...frank ain’t that guy. I’d bet Frank would rather be here than in Oxford too.

And I'm willing to bet he tries pulling Briles the younger with him to OM, should he land the gig. FAU could, of course, offer Briles the HC gig there to try and retain him (and fwiw I think he'd do a good job) but that is an unquestionable gamble in and of itself.

I would love to see Coach Frank back at LSU, but if it can't happen I just don't want to see him go to a team we directly recruit against often, and play every year. If Coach Rob is indeed ready to step away as speculated for a while here, I see no better candidate to step in than Coach Frank.

I don’t think that would be a risk for an FAU-level program. They will be hiring a coordinator from within or somewhere else or a retread looking to move back up. Butch Davis across town at FIU is a good example of that. Briles knows the program and has done well there. I wouldn’t be surprised if they offer him the job to keep things moving in the same direction.

Can someone explain the love affair TD posters have for Frank Wilson? Thanks.

The man is an ace recruiter. You don’t want him going against you. He got a couple of recruits out of LA when he was at UT with Orgeron.

This is from his Wikipedia page. Doesn't really require much more of an explanation. If we can add an elite recruiter to the staff then why wouldn't we?

quote:

Prior to taking the UTSA job, Wilson had been running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Louisiana State University under head coach Les Miles since 2010.[5] Wilson had also served as the associate head coach for the Tigers.

In 2011, Rivals.com named Wilson the National Recruiter of the Year.[6] In 2014, NFL.com named Wilson the top recruiter in all of college football.[7][8] In 2015, Scout.com honored Wilson as the SEC Recruiter of the Year.[9] In 2015, LSU secured a Top 5 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. The achievement marked the first time since 2002–03 that LSU finished with back-to-back Top 5 recruiting classes in America. From 2011–2014, 29 LSU Tigers have been selected in the NFL Draft which ranks second to Alabama (30).[10]

I was unaware of his recruiting prowess.

Thanks for filling me in like Craig David.

Ace recruiter like misey94 said. You definitely do not want him on any other SEC team, or even any small schools within 700 miles of New Orleans

Rantards just have to constantly freak out about something. When Kiffin took his UT staff to USC Frank didn't go. Frank is Eaux's guy.

Showing my ignorance here - but what makes one a "great recruiter"

- is it the ability to accurately gauge talent and motivation that others do not see?

- is it salesmanship and 'used car salesman' glibness?

- is it the ability to ingratiate himself with the family?

- or is it just rating the success of people he has recruited? = that would seem to me to be more reflective of the quality program he is recruiting for, rather than any individual trait he has.

Obviously I don't understand the "recruiting" process at all - I yearn to learn about things I am ignorant about - help please>>??

Then I question how much you really know about LSU football.

If it wasn’t for Frank:
Jarvis Landry and Anthony Johnson would have gone to TN;
LF would have gone to Bama;
Plus many many more that would have gone elsewhere.
