So you're saying there's no reason for a person to decide to give up their season tickets other than the protests?

My in-laws gave up their Buccaneers season tickets a few years ago because they were going to be travelling a lot more and couldn't justify the cost for going to a few games.

It happens.

Pretty big coincidence in the timing, wouldn't you say?

ETA: I assume you think everything is all well and good with LSU's fanbase and the "waitlist" for their tickets too?

On their own time, yes of course, they can protest all they want. But at their job, there's absolutely zero right to do that. A private employer can limit speech, protest, etc. any way they want.

Did you forget, or just not know, that the NFL doesn't have a policy against it? They were going to try to, but shelved it after a few months.

If anything, using LSU's waitlist actually lessens the argument that the protests are hurting the NFL's sales

The NFL policy explicitly states that the players have the option to stay in the locker room.

LF7 did not kneel.

the First Amendment DOESN'T APPLY to this sitation!!!

The 1st Amendment only applies to GOVERNMENT - i.e., the govt can't punish you for exercising free speech.

But a private employer can limit speech as much as they want. And the kneeler are protesting on the job.

I'm not saying there are some people who decide to give up their tickets because of the protests, but considering how hard they are to come by, I'd wager that percentage is fractional at best.

You were on a wait list and your turn came up. That's what wait lists are for. Don't insert narrative where there necessarily isn't one.

With no significant data to support your position, it's just as likely that after waiting in line for 12 years, you've finally made it to the front of the line. It's fricking crazy how a queue works.

I agree with you and was not posting that they could on company dime. That was addressed in May by the NFL, its up to the owners to fine the players that kneeled.

Ok, it has nothing to do with the many people that claimed to give up tickets and no longer support the league. It's just a coincidence. Sure.

Dude don't try to reason with this guy, he's still crying and asking heads to roll for a loss eleven months ago

I'm talking about the larger issue of whether it's their "right." It's not.

kneeling, staying in locker room, raised fist --- all the same.

as soon as a govt official actually tries to punish a player in violation of the 1st Amendment, let me know.

Just because you have a thought or opinion doesn't make you right...we are all born with the innate ability to formulate our own thoughts, beliefs and opinions...you may disagree with him but that's fine...without breaking any laws LF chose to do what he wanted to do...which is his right.

It is their right because the NFL hasn't said they couldn't do it. It's not a work policy, so have at it.

So, do you have any studies or data showing how many additional tickets have become available versus previous years? Do you have statements from those giving up tickets showing that they did it for some ill-guided patriotism? You don't, so coincidental is absolutely what it is.
