Mathieu clearly wants to coach here. He's said it multiple times and he's even shadowed the coaching staff a couple times in camp.
LSU or another elite school isn’t going to just hire an ex NFL alum and get great results out of it.

More star power helps with recruiting. Hire both Fournette and Mathieu.

I wouldn’t. Having the ability and knowledge of a position doesn’t always translate in being able to convey that information. There is also a grind to recruiting that is very difficult.

My money is on Fournette to get a better shot on Jimbo’s nephew if that opportunity presents itself again !

Then he should join the staff as an analyst and work with Frank, Hankton and Sloan
Exactly. He can do this right now. He can learn more working under these guys as an analyst than he could be a RB coach at some small school where he'd have to start. If it's going well, then he's really to be elevated when that time comes.
Same with Mathieu

He can come work at “the University of LSU”

Fournette has proven to not be a very intelligent person. You can tell his IQ is room temperature in his interviews.
He also has thin skin and lets people get under his skin constantly. He takes the bait and gets into confrontations over trivial things. He has done this while at LSU, the Jaguars, and the Buccaneers.
I don’t see him being a good leader of men. I don’t want him as a RB coach at LSU.

Yeah, I don’t think he would be very good. Justin Vincent is the former LSU RB that I think would make a great coach if he wanted to be. He’s a great communicator, had to learn to do the little things and battle for playing time after he lost a step with his injuries, has ton of connections, and is just really charismatic in a way that I think would translate well to recruiting.
LF7 isn’t recruiting based on his name. His best year was almost 10 years ago, and even if Frank left after this year, the guys he’d be building relationships would have been like 6 years old in 2015. And he’s got too many pics with Diddy floating around. Not accusing him of doing anything wrong, just not a good look. He’s not quite the adult yet that that job requires.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Well, he tweeted that, so he might as well put the time into the job. Become an analyst and train on the job.

Franks biggest asset is his age and ability to resonate with most of the families he’s recruiting.

Ok, Richard Simmons. I bet black reminds you of your dildos you like to use.

Can’t teach what Fournette had.
Somewhat agree. It’s often not the ridiculously gifted athletes that make the best coaches.
Often the better option is the guy who had to work hard at developing their craft just to be successful.
Fournette no doubt worked hard to become elite, as did Faulk, but they were also incredibly gifted with strength and speed that you simply can’t teach and they were able to lean on that as players.
Deion Sanders was an incredible player. It doesn’t always translate.
Jordan was the GOAT NBA guard, but as a coach, give me Steve Kerr.

Great players seldom make great coaches.. The exception would be players that became great through, effort, heart, and development. My preferences would be Jacob Hester, Stevan Ridley and Joseph Addai. I'd love to see Andrew Whitworth or Ben Wilkerson return home as well. The only great players to become successful coaches that I can think of were Bill Russell and Mike Ditka. But of course Russell had himself as center and Ditka had a great DC in Ryan.

Though younger, I think Vincent has a maturity about him that would resonate with families. And he’s got a great story. MVP of the SECCG and NCG as a true freshman, then got hurt and had to work to though adversity to get playing time, he wasn’t the freshman AS who ran for 1,000 yards, and he wound up getting a degree, and is turned it into what appears to be a very good career where he’s still around football and the LSU program. Not that he’s not qualified for the positions he’s had, but LSU football is a family, and you make great connections there, and they will benefit you after your football career is over.
I think LF7 would be a total disaster in a living room. Some dads might be excited to meet him, but after those 5 minutes, when they sat down to actually talk, I don’t think he’d be very impressive.

Honest question, does he have a degree? If not, does he need one? Why does everyone suggest starting as an analyst vs grad assistant?
