Flynn is the correct answer.

For me in the recent future, I think Lee had the ‘it’ factor. Shoot, he was undefeated and even beat Bama....

there have been separate threads on here saying that he's got moxie, toughness, intangibles and the it factor
is he a proficient practitioner of the forward pass?
is he a proficient practitioner of the forward pass?

Lee never beat bama. if we didnt have JJ9 then we would have lossed the 9-6 game

There is obviously multiple threads on ideas that touch on ideas that are in a multitude of ways the exact same thing of the exact same idea.
So what
So what

100% correct. The one-legged performance against UT in 2000 was unbelievable. I also recall being down 14-3 at half vs GT in 2000 Peach Bowl and Ro coming in to start second half. I have never, before or since, been more confident that a win was assured. Then there was him dragging his nads across Bama’s face in Tuscaloosa with 528 passing yards. That alone puts him number 1 all time on my list.

To me, Etling had the "it" factor. Not because of his overall ability, but because he exuded the heart and toughness that a true leader should possess.
I'll never forget him being blatantly targeted, face cut up, got off the ground looking out his helmet earhole, forehead painted deep red, spitting blood, made to sit out one play while they glued his forehead shut and then coming right back out and playing his fricking arse off.
He was a helluva tough sumbitch on the field. I will never forget those games where he was absolutely slaughtered but never once backed down. And we later found out that he'd needed surgery the entire season but still toughed it out.
He wasn't Mauck or Flynn or Russell... but his toughness and heart still make him one of my favorite Tiger QBs ever.
FWIW, I see this toughness in Burrow as well and I absolutely love it. QB swagger is back and BIG at LSU.

I thought Hillman was the dude back in the day. But I was a kid so maybe not. Any old timers remember this guy?

Rohan seemed to ignite a fire in his teammates every time he was on the field.
I wouldn't put Mettenberger near the top of the list but he deserves to be in the conversation. His command of that offense was amazing his senior year. Had great trust and chemistry with OBJ and Jarvis. 3rd down situations, especially 3rd and long, he never seemed to get flustered. Showed a lot of heart in that game against Bama where he took an absolute beating.

Hodson and Davey has it.
If Russell would have had any semblance of ‘it’ he would go down as one of the all time greats.

Tommy Hodson had the IT factor.
It’s more than confidence; Josh Booty had tons of confidence and it didn’t help.

Ah, Lee started that game and provided the spark. Agree that JJ9 came in and provided some stability. You’re not alone though - Miles also attributed the win that way and we sadly rarely saw Lee after that.

I liked Mett but he also had two of the best receivers in LSU history to help his It factor. Joe is a bull. I really hope he kills it this year.

I’ll second that and yeah the guy had “it” factors but fell short on talent but definitely not heart
