Will we ever know what actually happened at the scene now?

As someone who battled suicidal thoughts for years, there is no way to relate to this unless you experience it. For me at least, it was an absolutely overpowering mental and even physiological experience. It was a crushing feeling, like the walls are closing in, there is no hope, and there is no other way out. Your mind can play tricks on you. I am a very logical and rational person, but those episodes would completely overwhelm rational thought. Luckily, I had the awareness to step outside of it and focus on my faith and family to work past the occurrences. It was almost like being in a nightmare but then you realize it while you are dreaming. You can’t change it at the time but have the awareness to navigate it. Everyone’s situation is different, but I wanted to add mine for context.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said Lacy was with a family member in Houston when they called authorities late Saturday and said he had a gun and shot it at the ground after an argument. Law enforcement said once they arrived, he took off in his car and was involved in a vehicle pursuit for several miles and then crashed. Deputies said as officers were trying to get Lacy out of his car and into custody they realized that he had shot himself.

The conclusion to the allegations against Lacey has yet to be determined by a court of law. The correct legal assertions should be “ innocent until proven guilty.” To impute that he killed anyone is presumptuous at best. May God grant Lacey eternal rest and peace to the gentleman that died earlier in that car accident and I want to emphasize the word accident. There is evidence that there were any intent in that incident. None.

You know, among those who bear a share of the responsibility for this are all the adults in the guy's life - coaches, school administrators, teachers, boosters, fans, media, yes probably parents and relatives - who ever turned a blind eye and let him skate and dodge the consequences of his actions. All because he could run fast and catch a football.

This is fricked up.

Yes this is an extreme case but they sure as hell never did him any favors.

“Lacy was arguing with a family member shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday right before he pulled out a gun and shot it at the ground. Documents say Lacy's family member called law enforcement as he got in his vehicle and left.

A constable spotted Lacy around 11:30 p.m. driving and attempted to stop his car. Deputies said Lacy refused to stop and was chased for several miles before crashing.

A report from the Harris County Sheriff's Office says that when deputies walked up to Lacy's vehicle to take him into custody, they didn't realize he shot himself during the pursuit and before the crash”

Killed himself while being chased by cops. Wow.

That's terrible. Before the hit/run was he likely headed to NFL?

He was getting drafted mid to late rounds. I don’t remember him ever being in trouble while at LSU but ever since the hit and run it seems he lost it between the ears

It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the tragic passing of Kyren Lacy. First and foremost, we ask that the public and the media give his family the space and time they need to grieve this unimaginable loss in peace. Kyren’s was scheduled to have his matter heard before a grand jury tomorrow wherein we were very confident the evidence, after being fully collected and reviewed, would lead to a declination of charges.

From the very beginning, this so-called investigation took on the appearance of an overzealous, targeted effort—what can only be described as a witch hunt—fueled by who Kyren was and the public profile he carried. The decision by the investigating agency to charge him at all, in our view, was not only unjustified, it was disturbing. It’s imperative to understand the Lafourche Parish District Attorney, to this day, has not formally charged Kyren.

Kyren was a young man with immense promise, and he was crushed under the weight of an irresponsible and prejudiced process. The negative barrage on social media, the circulation of his mugshot by nearly every news outlet rather than a standard photo, the recent civil lawsuit filed against him that named another defendant who mysteriously wasn’t charged with a crime, only him, and the overall tone of coverage painted a deeply biased picture before he ever had the chance to defend himself. There was never a presumption of innocence which was exemplified by the NFL pulling his draft card over mere accusations without affording him the slightest chance to defend himself. The pressure and perception likely became unbearable.

Let us be absolutely clear: This is far from over. We will be demanding a full and transparent review of how this investigation was conducted and why. Those responsible for this gross miscarriage of justice must and will be held accountable. In the meantime, we again urge everyone to respect the Lacy family’s privacy and allow them the dignity to mourn the loss of their beloved son.

Releasing a statement like this will rightfully have the opposite result of giving the family space to heal.

I wish Lacy had faced his mistakes head on. I wish he had shown remorse and asked for forgiveness for accidentally causing a deadly wreck. I wish he could have felt the peace that ultimately would have come with being humble. He would have had many who showed him support and love and he would have gotten through t.

Instead, he has people like this attorney who blamed everyone else and sold him on the idea that he never had t admit anything and that preventing HIS loss was the only thing important.

People in his life like this are who ultimately put so much pressure on him that he couldn’t take it.

This is a tragedy. What can be done for these young men to get their lives in the right direction?
