Former LSU Football Player Passed Away This Evening

Russ Heald was an OL letterman from 1971 - 1973. Later flew F4s in the USAF before practicing law in Beaumont, TX. Russ was a great man who gave me a job out of LSU law school. RIP Russ and prayers for him and his family! Will never forget the story Russ told of playing in the Sun Bowl. Russ was a backup that year and didn’t expect to play, so he and some other reserves went across the border and had a great time. As fate would have it, the starter got injured, and Russ had to play quite a bit. He may or may not have dry heaved throughout the game.
