For the same price...? Maybe, but only maybe.

For their current salaries? No way would I take Jimbo and the 75 million dollar anchor wrapped around his ankle.

Actually,he left them full of talented players and Houston Nutt went 9-4 the following year.

This doesn't apply at all considering Fisher is 1 year removed from FSU and Orgeron is many years removed from Ole Miss. It's been well documented that Orgeron has learned from his mistakes at Ole Miss. And don't start because I'm not saying he is or isn't a great coach.

And the title Fisher won was greatly aided with that rub call against ND which took the winning TD off the board.

He left Ole Miss far better than when he took over. It was in terrible shape when he took over and had assembled a decent amount of talent by the time he left. I was glad they fired him when they did, because he was on the verge of being a problem for us.

No one is denying that Jimbo is one of the best x's and o's coaches in the country. But discipline and his ability to handle off the field issues definitely seemed to be his Achilles heel at FSU.

They nearly knocked off LSU for the SECW crown 2 seasons before he took over. He was getting some decent talent but the program was an utter mess. They went 0-8 in the SEC in 2007 for god's sake. He was not on the verge of being a problem for anyone, including LSU. They got a competent coach in there in Houston Nutt and immediately won 9 games. There's just no sugar coating his time at Ole Miss and I dont know why people feel the need to. It was an unmitigated disaster. That doesn't mean he has been or ever will be a disaster at LSU, so don't take this the wrong way. I think he's done a solid job here and could take a big step forward this year.

Correct. In one season, Nutt won more SEC games than O had in his entire three-year tenure and only one less win than in all of O's three years combined.

In the 25 years preceding his arrival at Ole Miss, they had a total of two 3 win seasons. In O's three years he had two 3 win seasons. Two years before O arrived, Ole Miss won 10 games.

In three losses to LSU, LSU outscored Ole Miss 104-51. LSU won the 2007 by more than two TDs. Sure, he was definitely on the verge of being a thorn in LSU's side!

Worst officiated game in college history. Every one of the refereeing crew should have been fired.

This long winded article didn't really explain anything. It never explained how Jimbo supposedly ran the program into the ground. It basically just said they did bad after the championship and then talked about recruiting misses. There were all sorts of rumors about dysfunction at FSU at the time, and most were surrounding the administration... Who seem more than happy to point the finger at Jimbo now. Gee I wonder why?

The most specific thing I could find in that article was when it spoke about Winston and claimed that Jimbo instituted an attitude of making the players eligible at all costs. Doesn't sound that much different from our feelings about some of our suspended players.

I’m not sure about that but he had Ole Miss on the verge of a major upset vs our Tigers in 2006. Fourth down (?) with seconds remaining when we scored.

As to all the folks citing aTm’s flukey win last year as evidence of Jimbo’s prowess, give it a break. FSU was pedestrian in his last 3 years at FSU and awful in his final year. No elite coach goes 5-6 with a loaded roster.

So.... does this mean that Jimbo will end up at Bama where he will have real succes in the SEC?

Here is a interesting article from Bleacher Report breaking down the FSU issues that Jimbo left.

I hope Taggart can turn them around. Jimbo aimed that program at a cliff, slammed the accelerator down, and jumped out right before it went over the edge.

If they're members of the LLC, do you think that, legally speaking, they have say in the HC duties?
