Look, I’m as confident as can be but I still think it will be a shootout.
Our D is susceptible to misdirection and to plays downfield. Lawrence is a better quarterback than Fromm and Hurts and they missed some plays.

Clemson will get some stops, both in the red zone and early in drives. I don’t think they can get enough.

I think our D will show up and play better than OSU did vs Clemson. I like our chances.

We only scored 37 on UGA’s top defense. Clemson has the #1 D in the nation. They will probably hold us in the 30s and they can certainly put up 30+ on us. They pistol whipped a great Bama team last year. Auburn, UF and Bama were all close games in the 4th. This game is going to be very close in the 4th.

If the team I saw Saturday shows up and play’s Clemson, it will not be close. That is basically the team I have been seeing for 14 weeks.

Easy to pad stats vs. Wofford, Charlotte, and North Carolina.

My biggest worry is if Clemson can get pressure with their front 4 and slow us down in the red zone like Auburn.
why would this worry you. Auburn has the best interior lineman in the nation and possibly the best lineman overall. Chase didn't show up half the games. Clemson doesn't have near the dline that Auburn has.

UGA has a better D. Per game stats are deceiving when you look at the level of competition.

That was a much better Clemson team. That d line was sick.

I personally expect a bit of a shootout with LSU pulling away late.

I don't see either team shutting the other down

Because the way to beat an elite quarterback, from high school to the nfl, is to get them off their spot. Getting pressure and forcing them to release it before they want us much more important than coverage.

But we didn't need points against UGA in 2nd half so didn't push it.

I think it has a lot of the same ingredients as the Bama game. You saw what happened when we needed points in the second half of that one.

Let's compare the matchups

Opponents QB: push
Opponents big play potential: push. Etienne plus WRs about equal to Bamas WRs
Opponents special teams: Bama
Opponents juju against LSU: Bama

LSUs offense and defense: better now than in early November
LSUs confidence: better now
Team of Destiny factor for LSU: higher now

It will be like the Georgia game - except Clemson will actually score. It was only 17-3 at half, and Georgia had missed open passes and field goals. It could have very easily been a one possession or tied game at half if Georgia's offense was halfway competent.

Georgia stuffed our running game and their red zone defense forced us to attempt three field goals in the first half. Given that Clemson has an offense, the game will be close in the 4th if they can do what Georgia did on defense.

clemson put up 28 against ohio state; do you think they'll put up more against our D?

Slightly more - maybe in the low to mid 30s.

I can easily see a 35-31 type game going into the 4th quarter.

i'll take our QB, RBs and WRs over anything they have left on D by then.

So would I.

But I'm not confident our defense can keep Lawrence and Etienne in check.

Clemson has not faced any team playing like LSU will be in New Orleans. OSU was the closest and they shoulda beat Clemson
