'72 thru '77. Football had some great names: Bert Jones, Brad Davis, Terry Robiske, Charles Alexander, Mike Miley (Tommy Casanova had just left). The football team was top 15-20, and games were exciting. Baseball was unheard of, basketball (What's that?); it was Dale Brown's first year, and Shaq was born that year as well. Brown's star player was Eddie Palubinskas from Australia. We had a great men's gymnastics team, top 5 nationally, but Title IX saw to it that they went away.
Anyway, I played in Tiger Band for 4 years, so that was the highlight of my LSU career.

Started Summer '88 and finished Spring '95 (undergrad & law school)
One year of good football (1st two student section games were the '88 win over A&M and then the Earthquake Game!), then six years of hell. Basketball was pretty good and awesomely exciting with Chris Jackson, Shaq, and Vernel from my hometown Natchez. Baseball was really good and becoming awesome ('91 and '93 National Championships). Pokey was playing for the Womens team, Volleyball was pretty good, and Track & Field was simply unbelievable (National Championships practically every year in Mens and Womens).
Fairly fun time, better than now in terms of constent across the board success; but nowhere close to as good in reality since Football outweighs everything else by such a wide margin.

Back when the oaks were just saplings, and noone gave a crap about them, we had a pretty damn good football team. The Tigers beat OM 61-17. Lost to Notre Dame 0-3 then beat them 28-8. Beat the Bear 2 years in a row. Pete Maravich was on our basketball team for a couple of those years, We moved the basketball games from the Ag Center, into the Assembly Center, and we didn't know LSU played baseball.

Obviously I had everything to do with the turnaround in football.

Started '86....
Football was good (Arnsbarger, Archer .... Orange, Sugar bowls)
Basketball was good (Shaq, Chris Jackson, Blanton...)
Baseball? (skip was just hired).
Men's and Women's Track was great.
Women's Basketball?
Title IX was killing some successful programs...Wrestling, men's gymnastics, etc.)

I was at LSU from the fall of 1990 to the summer of 1994.
Same here Chicken.
I was in the Tigerband, so the football seasons sucked! But I got to travel with the basketball team to SEC and tournament games. We played cards with Vernel Singleton.
The best time was when Daddy Dale went off on the Tenn player for intentionally fouling Shaq at SEC Tourney. LSU/Tiger band was booed thru out the weekend. I was loving it! One Kentucky fan/kid threw at jaw breaker and almost hit my trumpet. I was soo pissed. I know...I was a band nerd!

That's one event/sport you couldn't pay me to go. Glad it was eliminated.

Rather so-so. I was there from the fall of 1980 through the summer of 1984.
Those four years coincided with the Stovall years -- 22-21-2.One bowl game, the Orange after the '82 season.Should have had a bowl bid after the 7-4 1980 season.
Freshman year the basketball team went to the Final four with the "Midwest Regionals" being in the Superdome. Nothing says "Midwest" like New Orleans.
Team was ranked as high as #2 the next to last week of the regular season.NIT in '82 and '83 (home losses to Tulane and New Orleans) and an NCAA bid in '84 and quick loss to Dayton.
Bertman got there the Spring of my SR year and LSU almost made the SEC tournament at the time-- there was a West and East and the top 2 from each division made it. Before Bertman got to LSU, midweek games vs teams like SLU or Nichols would be in front of 100 people with half of them being visting fans.

I was there 78-80.
Football - pretty good teams under Chollie Mac, LSU vs. USC game was a heartbreaker. Ensminger and Woodley QBs. Never beat the Bear, though.
Basketball - awesome teams and we had a blast at all of the games. It was crazy in the PMAC! Made several SEC road trip games.
Other sports - fairly quiet. I even tried out for the baseball team, and made it to the final cut! Rest of the time spent chasing the girls. Found a good one and I'm still married to her 30 years later!!

2002-2006, but went to grad school at Tulane, so it was ALMOST like i was there from 2002-2009...even though it was Smoke-show in baseball, it was still so awesome to be at the Box...football speaks for itself...basketball with Tyrus and Big Baby was tons of fun...great times.

arrived Fall'78-Spring of'82. Football was good but not great. However the season after I graduated Dalton Hillard and Gary James turned things around. Basketball was doing fairly well and Baseball? Well, if you needed a quite place to study Alex Box was a good place to go!

85--89
Football was good---TIGER Stadium was loud--continuously loud.
Baseball was improving
Basketball was good, and the arean was full and LOUD. Dale was always entertaining...and that Final 4 run was awesome.
