NO question (with '90 Vanderbilt coming in 2nd).

Knight should have been ejected the moment he slammed that telephone at the scorer's table.

That's such a ridiculous, uninformed statement. Dale underachieved with some teams and overachieved with others.

Dale's 1989-90 team had Shaquille, Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, Vernell Singleton, etc and still couldn't win the SEC and lost in the second round of March Madness. That's a huge underachievement.

Dale was a master motivator and good/great recruiter, but his x and o abilities were limited.

You know how I know you are lying and fking clueless .....dale browns teams played excellent defense most of the time and he was known for Mr march due to his ability to have his teams ready for the trny....he may have not won the natty but he won a LOT of trny games....so....you are a liar....Jones isn't close to brown.

There were also some years where he over achieved that were pure magic. That wont happen with JJ.

Dale may not have been the best X's and O's coach in the world, but he was a damn strong motivator. I heard him at a coaches clinic and he made me want to run through the wall when he was done. He could have made a cockroach want to play defense....he was damn good.

Compared to Johnny Jones, Dale Brown was Coach K.

And Brown couldn't coach, either.

Dale could not win the SEC when UK was on probation & UGA & Vandy won it instead. And LSU had Shaq, Stanley & more than few other talented players. Giving him full due for what he accomplished. But at the same time, giving him full due for what he did to the program at the end. With regards to the comparison to JJ, I quote Bobby Knight: in a tight game, down to the wire " I was worried till I looked down at the other bench & saw Dale Brown sitting there" . How many games has JJ lost in either OT or going into the last minute/s in 1-2 point games? By my count, at least 6.

Dale Brown won the SEC Coach of the Year 4 times. He was the National Coach of the Year in 1981.

To compare the abomination so far that is JJ to Dale Brown is only done by people that did not watch LSU basketball back in the 70's and 80's, or has no understanding of the game of basketball.

that was one example, Hollow. There are others.

I liked Dale. Grew up in the 70s and went to LSU in the 80s. Watch a whole lot of Dale's teams along the way. Incredible excitement and Dale was always good for a quote.

Although he had a lot of success, he was weak on the x and o's. That was plainly obvious to anyone paying attention. Dale was best at taking good talent and motivating them to play above their heads. I loved the energy when that occurred.

But when he had a lot of talent, we too often didn't play to our full potential.

Blue you must be one of those you mentioned . Dales teams were way more physical and he recruited complete teams. Always had a true point guard and plenty of bigs. He had a HOF asst. coach that taught fundamentals and smart basketball. You my friend are an IDIOT.

Except for those pesky 4 SEC COY and 1 National COY he won would seem to disagree?

Knight also said about one of Dale's squads..."I could've coached that team from the stands and won a national championship."

Beating GaTech (in Atlanta)with John Sally, Tom Hammonds, Brian Oliver and Mark Price, then Beating Kentucky with Kenny "sky" Walker in the tourney in 86 and losing only to the Natty champ Louisville with Pervis Ellison in the FF is not small feat. Looks to me like JJ has more talent to work with and these guys cannot play defense. Dale's teams played D.
