I know we like to blame LSU and Alleva for most everything, but this seating issue is on the NCAA. LSU can't just put all the visitors in the bleacher seats. Doesn't make it suck any less, but at least we know who to blame.

The following is from the NCAA handbook:

quote:

TICKETS FOR VISITING TEAMS
Two hundred (200) tickets must be held for each visiting team at regional competition for the games in which that team participates. All of these tickets must be in a “PRIME” area (between first and third bases). At super regional competition, 600 “prime” tickets must be held for the visiting team (between first and third bases). The tickets must be held until 10 a.m. local time on the day of the game for the participating team(s) for the games in which they participate in the regionals and super regionals.

I know what you mean. There were LSU fans in our seats for the Super Regional two years ago. I think they are only required to give the same number of tickets per team for the supers as they are for regionals, so in theory they should be able to return the rest of those seats back to the season ticket holders who were bumped. We found out that LSU gave the seats in our section that were not given to USL to the families of LSU players instead of returning them to us.

Not much impact you can have from under the scoreboard in left field. Also it's hard to clap and make noise with a baseball glove on.

Good point

Ah, fond memories of him standing with Jake Fraley in left field for the national anthem.

Parents, girl friends, family and friends of the opponent deserve good seats. I'm glad the NCAA looks out for them.

As a result some of our fans are moved periodically. LSU should do everything they can to accommodate the displaced fans as best they can.

The NCAA thinks different. It's their tournament and they could take more if they decide to.

And remember our fans are treated the same when we travel to wherever.

I see no problem with this at all.

And this is not totally on the NCAA either since this rule was created in response to complaints from baseball fan bases who travel well, namely LSU. We were among the very first group to get bumped in the Old Box. We started a petition and everything and Joe Dean even gave up his seats due to all of the criticism. When some guys in our section did a little digging, they were told that visiting fans from LSU and at least two other schools had complained about being relegated to the bleachers in visiting ballparks. Seems to me that if you are the visitor, you should be happy to get in the ballpark and not fuss about your seat at that point. As a part of all this hoopla, Skip and LSU ticket office said that once we moved into the new stadium, they were going to hold out 600 tickets to be able to cover the relocations without bumping season ticket holders out of their seats for regionals and supers. Big surprise that LSU got greedy and sold ALL of the grandstand seats anyway.

This is entirely on the NCAA. They run these events, not the school. Sure, schools may have helped shape these policies over the years, but the final say rest soley with the NCAA. All LSU can do is decide which seats in the "prime" area they will give to visitors.
