For all the Will Wade haters

It’s pretty obvious to see who just started watching LSU basketball because y’all don’t realize just how bad we were before Wade. This board is the largest collection of the most hypocritical and impatient people I have ever seen. Heading into the season, tPear already had the highest winning percentage of any LSU coach that coached more than one season. We have made it past the first round in back to back NCAA tournaments, something that we had not accomplished since 1985 and 1986 seasons (that’s when Dale Brown was our coach for all the newbies). Wade’s age is not talked about enough. He is a young coach and only get better as the years go on. I don’t think a lot of you realize how hard it is to win it all in college basketball. Mike Krzyzewski, arguably the greatest men’s college basketball coach ever, didn’t win his first title until his 10th year and had two all world seniors in Christian Laettner and Grant Hill. He was also handed a MUCH better situation and overall program than Wade was. I’m not saying he’s going to be Coach K, I’m just saying things take time. All you tPear haters need to chill tf out see how things play out. We’re winning more games than we ever have and our recruiting classes are only getting stronger.

It’s been 5 years. How much time do I give to realize x’s and o’s is not his thing? You can recruit all you want but if they are not in a position to win then it’s a moot point. Iso ball only takes you so far

Soooooo because we were bad before tPear we have to continue with this waste of talent??

I don’t hate Wade. I’m thankful for what he has done so far but I don’t think he will take us any further than where we are now.

There is no argument about best ever. That title goes to john wooden.
I agree with the sentiment of your post though. No way wade deserves to be fired. He is so young and has a big time class coming in next year.

Holy wall of text Batman. I'm not reading that. I'm sure it requires purple and gold glasses anyway.

We see this criticism often, but rarely any explanation/examples as to how his “x’s and o’s” are deficient. Would you care to explain how they are?

One year was covid and we were under investigation which is never a good look for recruiting. This years team is awful on offense. If our defense doesn’t play lights out and we don’t score off turnovers, chances are we’re losing. Back to referencing Coach K; he didn’t make it past the 2nd round of the tourney until his 6th year. Who do you suggest we get if we fire Wade?

It’s ok, illiteracy is nothing to be ashamed of.

Who do you suggest we get? How many coaches his age are winning as much and recruiting as well? I’m not saying he’s perfect, I’m just saying he’s the best shot we have right now and we have put up with way worse for way longer. Y’all need to be patient.

Look I love will wade but to think he didn’t deserve criticism during the skid makes you just as bad as the haters. I understand pinson was out but it happens and you have to make adjustments, his adjustments weren’t very good. I criticized him and said I think we should extend him in the same sentence.

Every day, there is a "new" thread with this exact same title.
And the first sentence is almost always about how people supposedly don't remember how bad we used to be. Does anyone have an original thought?

I made a similar thread and didn’t say that. My argument was the fact that every coach in our conference has had a bad year and wades was his first. This years teams not that bad . When healthy we haven’t lost a game that I can think of

The myth that he just wins with better talent is entertaining.
How many 5 stars are on the roster today?
How many 4 stars are on the roster?
Now, on the flip side, how many 5 stars are on Kentucky’s roster, Tennessee’s roster, Auburns roster? Do your homework before you make dumbass statements.
There are a lot of idiots on here who simply don’t get that this team is less talented than most of the top end teams in the SEC this year. Yet, when at full strength, this team is unbeaten.
The fact that we went from one of the worst teams in the nation in defensive efficiency to one of the best debunks this myth as well. That didn’t happen by accident and it wasn’t just the player’s recruited.

Great for you. Most have said the exact same thing as this OP.

When we were healthy, we weren't scoring. And when not healthy, we haven't scored. I think the schedule caught up to the bad offense.
It just seems like, outside of the SEC championship season, he can't get his teams to play on both sides of the floor. We remain relevant, because he can recruit. No one can deny his recruiting prowess. But, at some point, you want to see the program move forward instead of being stuck in neutral. This point that so many are making about how bad we used to be, reminds me of what people said during the Les Miles years, when they constantly reminded us of Curley Hallman.
I don't much care for judging success by someone else's failure.

Dumb! You don't celebrate X and O's you celebrate W's over L's.
Use your brain. What do you think Mulkey's record would be if Pointer and Cherry missed several games due to injuries.
You can't win in a very competitive league without your key players.

The thing is, you really can’t say wade isn’t capable of coaching offense. It’s not even possible to make that argument because he’s had great offenses every year but this one.
The knock on wade was that he can’t coach defense and he proved that wasn’t true at vcu and at lsu this season.
The issue is that we haven’t had the players or the team that was willing and capable to be great on both ends of the court.
Wades proven that he has the ability to coach good offense and he’s shown he can do it on defense. To me, that means maybe we just don’t have the players to put a good offense on the floor this year ,and in the past , we haven’t had players that are willing to put in great effort on defense.
Eventually you have to have guys that work on d and have talent on offense. He’s capable of recruiting those players , it will all line up very soon

I didn't say that, though. I said he can't seem to get them to play on both ends. This year just happens to be reversed.
Personally, though, I've never been very impressed by the system he runs on offense. I thought his superior talent that he recruited kind of covered up some otherwise sloppy looking plays. And when we ran into this situation of not having good outside shooters, it's made the lack of any real plan to move the ball stick out. All that iso ball that LSU is notorious for, does not work so well when no one has to respect the shooters.
I'm very glad that the defense has improved. But the results remain the same, because we just shifted our problems from one side to the other. And I just wonder if he goes out and recruits a bunch of sharp shooters, if he's going to fail to get them to buy in on defense, again. We can sit here and criticize players for not doing their part, and that's fair, but the coach is also responsible for motivating his players to play hard on both ends.
I don't know. I want to believe in him. But I'm just getting a lot of Dale Brown/Les Miles vibes. Some people are happy just to not suck. For me, I believe the goal is always about getting better, and my enjoyment, or lack thereof, is directly tied to whether or not that needle is moving forward. Being "ok" doesn't feel the same in year 5 as it does earlier in a rebuild. Expectations change.
