While it does indeed look rather black but I've heard that some dark shades of purple can actually appear black.

It looks far better than the normal horrific suggestions, but it's just too much white for me. Monochrome unis just don't look good to me. Perhaps a yellow helmet would help as suggested previously.
I'm still such a traditionalist that I don't think there should even be "occasional" unis. Our current unis are perfect.

If LSU let Nike get creative, they could come up with some sweet combinations.
It would never happen from a tradition standpoint but it would look better than any of the fiascos LSU has thrown out there - purple pants, gold shirts, etc.

The stripes on the helmet are purple, but they are a much darker shade of purple than the jersey...so basically they don't match. I wish they'd lighten the helmet stripes to match the purple elsewhere in the uniform.
And also, the white/white/white would look fantastic.

That's actually doable if done right. You'd have gold helmet, gold jersey, white pants. It would mirror the old baseball uniform in that regard.
The problem is that the few times we tried it, we wore jerseys without stripes and really awkward number shadows. If the jersey looked like a continuation of the helmet (same striping on shoulders) you'd be in business.

I like the all white (except for the helmets) WAY BETTER than the purple jersey tradition for our weak-opponent at home game...
