Football investigation still pending?

So, according to this article, the sanctions handed down today were separated from the OLOL and OBJ allegations. Why didn’t they just consolidate everything? Now we still have to deal with that?

What’s the 1 year probation? Can’t participate in a bowl?

No, that would be a postseason ban. Probation is usually limits on visits and maybe lost scholarships.

Today was as close to nothing as LSU could get. They already self imposed all of the restrictions

The OBJ stuff could be a lot more significant because if I recall we were already on probation in 2019. Committing more offenses is a big no no on probation.
That said, NCAA can frick off nobody cares about them.

Lsu wanted football separated from the basketball but ncaa said no
LSU mitigated the football by disassociating Beckham for two years and players paid that money back plus the bowl ban during covid year and self imposed some schollies when they went from 85 to 82
I know some of the money given to vadals dad was after he left lsu and was in nfl
Most of the football is done unless ncaa vacates some wins from when vadal was still at lsu
Basketball I would think gets a one year ban from tourney and wade will get a lengthy show cause
Ncaa wanted lsu to give up wade and they did as lsu said they would once noa was given
It’s not lsus fault it took ncaa 5 years to resolve this basically letting wade finish his contract

Probation just means the NCAA is watching you like a hawk and if you mess up again the hammer will come down.

Hard to believe the OBJ stuff is taken seriously by anyone. Yeah, I know alums aren’t supposed to give $100 handshakes, but context has to be considered. OBJ is a nutjob and there was little the university could do to control that situation. And didn’t everyone give back the money?

That’s a very realistic projection of what will likely happen to us. Personally, if the NCAA does that, I’d hope they impose that at the END of the basketball season so as not to bastardize the basketball season. Anything’s on the table as to when but would rather get that news after a season’s been played and there’s still incentive on our part to see how good we can be with a basically new squad under a new head coach.

What was handed down had no teeth and referenced what we already did voluntarily. NCAA is almost dead anyway.

I wonder if Kelly has a clause in his contract that gives him an out if we are hammered for anything previous to his hire.
