Exactly, how is it the QB's fault when the offense puts up 48 pts and loses!!

dude, they were better than decent. Especially Mauck. He was actually really good. It is possible to be good without a great arm. Jamarcus was better than both, but that doesn't mean they other two weren't good. Or even very good, maybe.

true, they were both better than decent.
i guess it's just the comparison context of things.

this is what confuses me about crowton sometimes:

this is scotts stats from the arkansas game:

C. Scott 1 4 4.0 0 4

ONE RUN. they put charles scott in ONE time the whole game to run. a 3 OT game at that.

still baffles me to this day.

hester had 28 rushes in that game.

Flynn definitely.

Saban pulled the ball out of Mauck's hands twice in the 2003 season, Ole Miss and Oklahoma, and relied completely on the running game and the defense.

Mauck was good, but he made crucial mistakes in big games. Flynn seemed to play better under pressure (sans the Arkansas OT).

And for those arguing Oklahoma Defense v. Ohio State Defense, I think the better argument is LSU 2003 defense v. LSU 2007 defense. LSU defense in 2003 was one of the best in the history of college football.

Mauck is tied with JR for the most TDs in a season with 28. Flynn had 21.

Actually, Flynn had 25 and Mauck had 29.

And Flynn played two less games then Mauck.

Mauck played every minute of 13 games.

Flynn played and shared time in 11 games.

Mauck averaged 2.23 TDs a game

Flynn averaged 2.27 TDs a game

So your argument is completely wrong.

You included rushing TDs, I didn't. Mauck is tied with JR for the most TD passes in a season. It's a fact.

It is also a fact that Mauck had a higher completion percentage and rating. He was the better passer.

So just because a QB runs across the goalline instead of throwing it, it shouldn't count?

Someone better call Vince Young and tell him that he actually wasn't that good.

Its also a fact that he played two more games than Flynn. You really can't ignore that in this debate.

mauck was a liability in some of the biggest games of '03. Luckily (outside of Florida) the defense, and justin vincent in the second half of the season, picked up the slack in those games.

That's a dumb statement. I specifically said passing TDs and you want to dismiss it because it doesn't prove your argument.

So more games would have improved his completion percentage and passer rating? Got it.

Looks like only facts that support your argument are allowed in this discussion.

No. I'm simply pointing that your original argument . . .

doesn't help your case because Flynn averaged more TDs than Mauck.

Asking to choose between these two young men is like asking to choose between two great sons. On the other hand, isn't it great how SEC championships teams don't necessarily need outstanding QB's to win national titles? Neither of the two were Heisman level QB's, yet our LSU defense and running backs were providing enough support and compensation to makeup for it.

I am not sure either are really Top 10 All-Time QB. Just because they have rings doesn't mean alot to me. They did not win, they needed luck to get there they did not lead teams to undefeated seasons.
