Thread= Fail

Being an NFL QB is much different than a college QB. Flynn was a runner who could throw a little.

LSU used Flynn to his stregnths. In the NFL you can't have a running QB that is effective or lasts very long.

The pass rush is faster and the athletes are better at the PRO level. Thus the coaching is more sophisticated and technical.

Flynn did not diss LSU coaching just said the coaching at the NFL level was difft

How many S.E.C. schools have a dedicated quarterback coach seperate from the Offensive Coordinator?

How about hiring a local boy from Kiln,MS to come in and coach LSU's QB's.........

I interpreted the article as Flynn obviously understating the coaching he received at LSU in order to make the point that, hey, he still has a lot of upside in the NFL.

You better believe he was coached more than "just drop back and throw." It is called hyperbole.

College QBs are typically not ready to absorb the finer points of a particular Pro-Style offense. Why is this news to RANTards?

Answer: RANTards are clueless college geeks.

i disagree, Flynn was a thrower in college who ran a little. He didn't throw well on the run but he was a pretty good pocket passer.

I can't even imagine what his board would look like had Jamarcus Russell said the exact same words.

this can be said for every college player going pro.. i agree if JR said it.. he'd take much more heat.. but i'd still defend him.

We ran the option play with him. How many throwing QB's in college run the option?

for Flynn, this off-season was about getting the kind of detailed instruction that he never received at LSU, where he started only one season and where coaching the finer points of quarterbacking amounted to “just drop back and throw,” he said.

I wasn't impressed with him at the helm of LSU, and will watch to see just what he learned under Tom Clements that he couldn't show playing a single season for LSU under Gary Crowton

I have been saying all along that i think our QBs does not get the propers mentorship. I still feel we need a bonofide QB coach on the sidelines during the game becuase it is to hard for GC to do it from the OC booth.

THIS is correct and I have been saying this for years, we need a QB coach. With Shep, JJ and Garrett and now Lee we have some very talented QBs who will all need a QB coach. Wat I dont get is I am sure we can get a GA to do it for free so why not have one?

hmm, theres only what, 4 Qbs on the team, seems to me they could have a coach devoting all his time to teaching them, even in offseason, this just my opinion, i dont really know enough about what goes on there, but i was just thinking, whatever it takes to get an advantage, they should do

Beautiful isn't it? Ask a simple question without giving an actual opinion on the matter and rantards come out of the woodwork.

Thanks guys for learning me the hidden fact that more instruction is given in the NFL than in College. I am forever in your debt with this nugget of knowledge.

Oh, and for the record, I believe that it is a slight dig (intentional or not) at the instruction he was provided at LSU. And Doc, the first thing that came to my mind when I initially read the article was the mental picture of Lee repeatedly throwing off his back foot last year.

just because he can run, doesn't mean he is a runner. He is a pocket passer 1st and a runner 2nd. Jordan Jefferson is a pocket passer from what it looks like, but he has running ability
