I bet they could if they really wanted to.
I'll take it. They do have contracts to honor with different ball manufacturers. It's better than nothing.

will this trickle down to the high school level??

This will prepare pitchers better for MLB

Finally, Maybe college baseball will be worth watching again..

I doubt it. In general, high school hitters are more developed than pitchers. Those pitchers would be even more ineffective without the seams.

Not only will this make the ball travel further.. It will also stop making every single pitcher look like an all-american with an ERA below 3. The pitching numbers were getting a little stupid.
The ball will travel further and hitters will get more hittable pitches with the pitchers not being able to spin the ball as well.

We'll see a lot more doubles and triples out of this. Not just the homers.

I noticed some people saying, ‘Well, this is the real game.’ No, that’s not the real game. That’s the dead ball-era game. That’s not the game that popularized baseball. That’s not the real game—that’s poo-poo.

its an exciting day for the Tiger baseball faithful
It's an exciting day for anyone who likes good, balanced baseball. This shite the last few years has been pretty terrible. Especially when teams get into the postseason and play games at Hoover and TD. It's just silly. The homerun has to be at least a little part of the game.
I love low-scoring pitchers duels, but lobbing the ball over the plate and not being punished for it isn't a pitchers duel. I look forward to good pitchers still being good and shitty pitchers getting exposed.

Another reason college pitchers will not like it is the flat seam ball will not break as much. sliders, curves, changeups etc. will tend to sit there, fat pitches.
This will also promote hitting.

Now all we need is an increase from 11.7 and Boxtards are gonna be the duffiest sumbitches in America.

This makes me curious as to what it takes for the NCAA to realize they have made a mistake and correct it. Will this set a precedent for other errors they have made in other sports? What is the driving factor for such changes?

Outcry by coaches and media alike. The statistics speak for themselves that a change needed to be made but it takes a voice. The attention that ESPN, specifically Kyle Peterson, gave to the topic during the CWS (the one time a year that NCAA baseball has the national eye) really set the wheels in motion.

Football: protect the offense (WRs, QBs), never call holding
Basketball: protect the shooter, 3-point line
Baseball: protect the defense???
