When a team of super stud high school all-everythings doesn't have the personal pride to defeat a vastly inferior team it's not a good sign for future success against quality opponents.

CPM is a disappointment as a coach. Not ready to fire him yet, but I don't like the direction this season is headed.
How does this loss have anything to do with how the team will play again SEC teams? These games are used to develop the younger players. If we needed to win this game, don't you think Bain would have pitched longer instead of holding him to a pitch count so he will be available Friday like usual? Look up Skip's record for midweek games. His philosophy was to use these games to develop the younger players. I'd much rather lose these games if it means a 4th starter and young bullpen guys gain much needed experience. If we had and SEC series this weekend, we probably wouldn't have pitched Bain or Gilbert as long as we did and lost by more. But keep on thinking these midweek games are important and bragging about freaking Laval's record against in-state schools.

You are comparing our current program with Skip's??!!
I promise you Skip did not lose midweek games as regularly as we have been lately.
Oh and Skip did a whole lot better in NCAA tournament play than PM has.
Look it up.

If you are slumping in all 3 major sports, perhaps the problem lies a little farther up the food chain. Perhaps it's time for Alleva to go.
Not a big fan of CPM but not sure he should be fired.
Joe Alleva on the other hand. That jackass should have never been hired.

These midweek games mean nothing, especially this early in the season. Get the young guys some experience and see what needs to be improved.
The only problem with that is the starters are the same as weekend games. With the exception of LF & C, Of course the pitcher is different as well.

You're right. He did not lose midweek games often but I remember him saying his philosophy for midweek games was to let the younger guys gain experience even if it ended up in a loss. I remember the 2000 team losing to McNeese. My point was that winning these games is not as important as getting the younger guys playing time. It would be nice to win them all but this is baseball. You can't pitch Lange, Poche, and Newman every game.

This right here shows how short some of your memories are. LSU dropped midweek games to shitty teams when Skip was the coach too.

But I am a little concerned with the hitting. Robertson is in a slump right now and that seems to be the biggest difference over the past week. Hopefully he will rebound quickly and others will follow.

Would you rather hitters be in a week long slump in March or May?
Posted on 3/8/17 at 10:50 pm to lsufball19
My point exactly. And college baseball is a lot more balanced now than it was back then.
Posted on 3/8/17 at 10:52 pm to lsufball19
Definitely March. I'm not overreacting about the offensive slump like others are. I actually understand baseball and realize a 1 run loss in a midweek game means nothing.

Mainieri should start feeling the heat. That last championship is quite a few years in the past and getting further every year. He can't even win a game in Omaha with his dumb decisions.

I understand the midweek games arent as important as our SEC series but I still dont like getting out schit pushed in by these in-state little brothers.

I know they're mid week games. I know they don't matter as much. I know every team loses these...but dammit this is getting frustrating. I've kept calm but losing to UNO twice and McNeese is fricking frustrating.

How did the pitching affect not scoring a single run after the 1st inning until the 11th last night?
