Sleep Inn on Plaza Americana drive …Is it an ok place?

Did they give you the hourly rate or the full night rate? My source in the state legislature says that with the hourly rate, they give you a fresh sheet and towel at check in – however, they are very strict on the hour limit.

He also said be careful to not walk barefoot on the carpet and use a sanitary wipe to touch anything in the bath or the door knobs.

The chair does wedge up tightly under the hall door knob to keep it shut.

Enjoy your stay.

one thing you can do before game day in the evening is hit places along coursey like chimes and georges and all the rest. Walkons may be good but NOT for the food. The desk dude/dudette can tell you how to get to coursey,it is a piece of cake from the hotel parking lot.

Dear UGA fan,

Whatever you do, don't go to Ninfa's or TJ Ribs as suggested by this poster. OMG, I don't even know what to say. If you arrive on Thursday, you'll have some time to hit plenty of spots. This is good news for you, stay away from anything that remotely sounds like a chain rest. (ala Hooters). I like Hooters, but you're in Baton Rouge. Stick with Cajun.

I like Mike Anderson's if for no other reason than there's nothing better than a cold mug of beer and a stack of onion rings. Better stop by there before game day or you'll never get in. Sunday after the game is a possibility.

Another idea is that you can buy groceries (sort of) at a place called Tony's on Plank Road. Stop by sometime Thursday if you're not otherwise busy.

If you want to party for your buddy who's getting hitched, no reason you can't drive to New Orleans on Thursday night.

Have fun.

I forgot about that….didn't that happen the day of the UGA/LSU game back when Quincy Carter was the QB for UGA? 1998?1999?

What are some places to eat that we HAVE to try?
First, I'd say The Chimes, right next to campus. Then I'd say Walk-Ons, also next to campus. If you go to the chimes, ask for the blackened gator poboy with sautéd mushrooms... it isn't on the normal menu, but you won't regret ording it.

Where do visiting fans usually go to tailgate?
I see them scattered across campus... the parade ground always has room open, and you can sorta find a place between there. If you can, you'll want to stake out a place either the night before or real early in the morning.

Any bars that we must go to?
After the game will be a mess. A lot of people flock to the varsity (next to the chimes) and serrino's (right next to the varisty) after the games. Tiger Land is where all the college fans hang... a lot of the Greek crowd.

Any other suggestions?
Don't hesitate to walk around around and explore campus. People will yell "tiger bait" but if you know your football and can carry out a conversation, even if friendly arguing, fans will gladly let you do a keg stand or offer you some good LA food.

If you want some really good authentic Cajun food, go to Bellue's on Jefferson Hwy. Try the deer and turkey sauce piquant over dressing. MMMMMM! Damn good boudin! I've yet to eat anything there that wasn't good and I always bring back a bunch of stuff frozen when I go home.
A place to get a really good fried seafood platter is Opie's on Gov't St. just east of Foster Dr.
If the Sleep Inn is the one I'm thinking of, I had to stay there once when there was no room at the inn family wise. It is an okay place to stay, just not close to anything but would be convenient to Bellues.
Enjoy everything but the outcome of the game! And travel safely.

All of the good food and hospitality is our way of easing the pain of having to drive back to Athens with a loss.

I always park and tailgate in the field south of the school. If you look at the map. it is west of the #8.

You do realize that's the north side of the campus? And for what it's worth, anything from there on north is not a good neighborhood at all...just sayin'.

I don't know if Baton Rouge bus service still runs a shuttle but if they do, I'd recommend you find out the closest place to where you're staying and take that in for the game. Traffic and parking is absolutlely horrendous for games. They used to have one from the Wal-Mart on I-10 and Siegen Lane. I'm sure there are others. Let them fight the traffic while you enjoy the ride.

OK, I'm going to throw this out there for UGA fans, and LSU fans who might not know. The grass lot in front of the Field House on Nicholson is a free parking lot. The key is, you have to get there before 8:00 or 9:00AM. There's a cop counting cars, and once it reaches a certain number he shuts it down. It's reserved for certain media or referees or somebody like that, I don't know for sure. You will need to show the cop that you have a ticket to the game though.
