Get there at 10 am. Go to Chimes and eat well. Around noon start walking around but I will say keeping 16 guys together will be a lot of work.
Have a few guys wear LSU gear and some wear a t-shirt (it will be hot) to represent where you are from and definitely shorts (remember it will be hot). The wardrobe alone will get you in a conversation to a tailgate, but I’m not going to lie, 16 people are a lot for hospitality. It might be better to split into a couple groups and go separate ways. Plus this will be easier to stay together. Make sure everyone has their own ticket.
If you have some lightweight drinkers, then tell them to pace themselves.
I wouldn’t recommend watching the team go down the hill because it probably means more to the fans that have been LAU diehards forever.
Watching live Mike the Tiger is cool. Sometimes there is a band by Pete Maravich Assembly Center. And if it gets too hot, go inside the Assembly Center but this is only if it’s too hot because you will miss out on all the fun tailgating. You’re a Tiger Fan now so man up and represent. Enjoy the best college fans and atmosphere in college sports. Becoming a Tiger was one of the best decisions of your life. You will never regret it.

Exactly. You are explaining what you would do as a clearly older person who has been to a game many many times. You know where everything is, you've experienced everything there is to experience.
Well...today was a dark day. It's the first time someone other than my kid called me old.
Geeees I'm only 44. Is that old now?? Granted, I still remember when I thought 30 was old, so maybe so. Frick

It all depends on what your group likes. If they all want to hang in one area/or don’t like to walk around then the Revelry tailgates are fine.
Or you can get dropped off at the Chimes, eat lunch and drink, then walk through all of campus (where people will likely invite you over) toward Walk Ons. Have drinks at Walk Ons then walk back toward the stadium. You could easily kill 6 hours doing that.

Getting there too late, and even noon is pushing it, you will remove the ability to get the full experience.
I know that when I go to the games away from LSU I always want to get there early and experience how other fan bases tailgate. I know it won’t compare to LSU (which is the model of how you should tailgate) but I’m curious how other schools tailgate.

Thank you all for this, it is extremely helpful. We are absolutely amped and can't wait. We'll all be tuning in week 1 too, cheering for our newly adopted team.

Come back the week of the game and you will probably get a lot more help as well.
Also please report back and let us know how it was. We see 50 of these threads per year and it's very rare that anyone comes back and shares the experience.

Will absolutely come back the week of the game. Also, happy to recap and follow up afterwards. Really looking forward to it. Counting down the days.

Don't go to Tigerland.
Just go directly to the LSU campus and stay there all day until after the game.
Don't venture out drunk at night after the game and get lost if you if want to stay alive.
Gas up off the Interstate before you get into town and then gtfo of BR as soon as possible after the game............

It will be the first big tailgate of the season against a hated rival. Get to campus around noon and go see Mike then make your way up the hill and check out tailgates that look popping and you’ll find your way. Tell them your story and most will invite you in for a beer or so

If you have a bus you can only park down Skip Bertman in a designated bus lot. Traffic on Nicholson is congested and getting to and turning onto Skip is more difficult and time consuming the later you get to campus. It is bumper to bumper the later you get there and the idiot cops suck at traffic management.
If you want to see campus get there early and walk around. There are a few places to eat on either side of campus.
Getting a tailgate set up would be a waste of resources if your goal is to get the full LSU experience because you will be away from the tailgate area when watching LSU band and team enter the stadium, going to Mike's habitat, etc.
Buy a couple of cheap backpack ice chests and carry beer or drinks around with you. If you wanna be really cheap, use heavy duty garbage bags with ice and beer and dispose of them as you consume the contents of your portable ice chest.

These guys sound younger. I don't know if they'd care about seeing the band walk down the hill into the stadium playing at 4:30ish, and I don't think going into the PMAC (basketball arena) is worth it at all on gameday.
The best places you can go since you're prob in mid-20s is Parade Grounds and Lockett Hall area. Tailgates are all over campus. You can walk anywhere East of the football stadium or you can see 2 very large parking lots South of stadium where RVs and tailgates set up. The Parade Grounds or Field House Drive next to the stadium (an actual road) is where I'd go.
