Only in America could a skinny, non athletic, zero personality guy like Finebaum find a gig on TV. It amazes me.

idiots like Finebaum having a heisman vote is a big reason why the award doesn’t mean quite what it used too.

Guys like Finebaum have been voting for as long as I can remember (I’m 61). Plus, I think he is an excellent voter. He is a very informed observer with excellent takes. He is thought to be prejudiced by a lot of SEC fans because he is always taking up Bama, but his praise for Bama coincides with Bama winning 7 National Championships in 14 years.

If he did, then good on him, but I don't believe him

This guy is one of the lead mouthpieces for the SEC. You are insane if you don't believe he voted for Daniels. Nix could have passed for 350 yds and seven touchdowns in a win against Washington and he still would have voted for Daniels

Finebaum seems to love Brian Kelly and he has been sending nice vibes toward the LSU program under Brian Kelly since he has been here.

What do you know? Finebaum praises the well run programs at the expense of the shitty ones.

Mark Ingram has said he votes Bama players 1,2,3 every year…

It's always been "idiots like Finebaum", but they were usually based out of major media markets, so they didn't vote for a Southern guy unless he was SO elite they couldn't avoid it.
Finebaum at least balances it somewhat to the South.

I hate this argument. As someone who played in college and beyond, I knew a whole bunch of players all the way into the NFL that didn’t know or care about the game. They were just great athletes collecting a paycheck. There have been some pretty damn good coaches who didn’t play. Playing helps with in-depth knowledge of how to play a position, but I would argue that the kind of fandom that leads someone to be a sports journalist results in a better broad understanding. The true greats played and are huge fans of the game.
