Why is Lou Holtz even on the air? His old man, "I'm a retired milquetoast" lisp irritates the hell out of me.

Well, if anybody ought to know about showboating or "all about me," Lou Holtz would certainly qualify. BTW, next year, and every year after that into the next millenia, will be the year that Notre Dame contends for and wins the Natl Championship.

That particular ESPN piece has got to be the most stupid piece of TV I have seen in a while. It is even embaraasing for ESPN which can sometimes produce the most stupid and inane comments from its commentators. May just seems to rub me the wrong way. It is apparent that the more obnxious and opionated you are, the more likely you are to be a big time commentator, Herd, SVP, Holtz, et al for the network.

I enjoy it because I like to see Lou Holtz make a fool out of himself.

I think Mark May secretly hates Lou Holtz.

I physically cringe everytime I hear the slobber build up in Granny Holtz's mouth.

Lou Holtz is my least favorite thing about college football.

This rule is ridiculous, and the call on Wing was a bunch of BS. Will we again be victims of a rule that only lasts one year?

According to the rules, it was the correct call.

That "relic" knows a helluva lot more about football than 99.9% of people in the world. It's a show and his bickering with May is all staged. Check Holtz's pics this year. He's not idiot, but ESPN makes him act like one, so fans will hate him. Do you really believe he thinks Notre Dame and South Carolina will win every week. If so, you're a dumbass. But, it makes for good television because people are going to talk about it.

Stop taking it so serious. Corso and Holtz are at ESPN to lighten things up, but they know a lot about football.

I don't think it's a secret anymore. Do you ever notice all the crazy faces May does when Hotlz is rambling on about Notre Dame or South Carolina or whatever? May did call him out yesterday when Holt say OU should be number 1, and May said how in the hell could you say that when you picked Texas to beat them???

Whether one agrees with the rule or not is not the issue; the call that was made was the right call according to the rule that is in the book.

IMO, players should be penalized for taunting for it is a display of unsportsmanlike behavior.

It will be a judgement call in some instances, but so are other calls on the field, such as pass interference.

FWIW, Holtth and May both showed their stupidity.

That's the best entertainment ESPN has made lately. Love and hate them, that is a funny, smart commentary.

I agree with this, and they always have been. The difference is taking points off the board vs a 15 yard penalty. I think it's absurd to take points off the board based on the official's interpretation of an action. Maybe Wing wasn't taunting at all, maybe he was looking at some of our players and simply gesturing to say "I can't believe that worked and I'm about to score!"

Either way...

This. I agree that taunting should be punished.

HOWEVER

It's the interpretation of WHAT exactly is taunting, and whether Wing was taunting at all. Was he really looking towards the Florida players taunting that they couldn't catch him, or was he just gesturing "Who'd have thought the punter would score?"

If the infraction is penalized at the spot of the foul, it automatically negates the score...no different that if it was a holding call or an illegal block in the back.

If it's done after the TD, then and only then it becomes a dead ball foul.
