LSUFan1909, I think Jennings and Harris both have their positives. I like Jennings' footwork as he seems more comfortable in his drop back and scan phase, Harris hits that last step and almost immediately bolts. But I like Harris' play-making ability and arm strength. I'll provide more when I get a chance to do my next LSU article in some weeks.

I don't share the same optimism you have regarding Jennings but that was well put together.

I definitely hear you, Port City. I appreciate ya, though. Hopefully he continues to build on those small aspects I pointed out. I'm really excited about him starting to go through his progressions.

Just read the film study

It would be great to see a video commentary and breakdown by you. Nice gifs and observations.

Unlike Jefferson, if Jennings can actually improve he may not be so bad. I'm still rooting for Harris to get the job, however.

Just get the ball into Dural and Dupre's hands!

There you go, Schwartzy! Jefferson had mechanical flaws where Jennings actually throws with touch and has a pretty traditional throwing motion. Experience is the death of most us, ya know?

Boat missed and tide is rolling out.

You're just talking about the spring game, right? He didn't do much scanning last year and instead of bolting he was taking sacks. The O-Line took a lot of the blame but there were many times where he had enough time and just locked into his favorite receiver (dural) and then took a sack or threw a bad ball to him while covered. I agree that he looked better in the spring game though.

There was a particular sequence that stood out during the Spring Game where Jennings worked the quick game to Dupre three times in a row - all designed at generating yards after the catch.

I commented on this play set in the Spring Game threads. I saw it at the game. I also DVR'd the game and I did not see it in the SECN coverge so people who watched it on TV might not have seen it.

This was the play(s) AJ could not run last season - the throws underneath. Mett used to throw this route to Juice often and AJ and Dupre hooked up on it successfully for a change.

Thanks rmnldr, bro. Probably won't get the chance to do that for LSU but I have a few podcasts on the Vsporto network where you could at least hear me talk. Only problem is they are on Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Always wanted to cover the Tigers, more than any other team really, but never got the opportunity for an LSU specific site.

Spring game, last season is over, Port City. But we will see if he does it this season, too. I agree he put a lot of pressure on the o-line but he was green with inexperience.

Of course we will. Set the bar low enough and practically anything will be an improvement.

Les, great minds think alike, bro. To me, that was the most telling series as you can tell what the focus was with Jennings: the quick game and his footwork. And yes, my guy Mett was brilliant with it; you would think the Titans would've realized that smh

Most reasonable Tiger fans are understandably going to see what each QB actually does under the pressure of a SEC defense...and ya' can't blame them...we been disappointed too many times with the QBs over the last few years...for now, we can only hope that at least one of the QBs finally settles down and makes the plays when the game is on the line...personally I don't care which one it is...just let it be at least one of them...jmho

Why did you not do a similar eval of Harris FWIW. He also looked better but you could tell he is still not comfortable with the reads or the plays. From an experience standpoint BH looks like where AJ was at beginning of last season. From a talent standpoint he looks like he has a much higher ceiling that AJ. JMHO

What a young QB can do under the pressure of a 250-300lb. savage trying to knock him out is totally different from a Spring game...for example, Lee was a damn good QB until his bell got rung, then panic would set in the next time around...I'm not being critical because I would probably be the same way...today's QBs have to damn tough to take the SECW pounding...it's brutal!
