Been too busy to go to the games the past week and a half and I feel like there has been so much I've missed. Need to know: injuries, who's been hot at the plate, how are we looking defensively. What's the lineup going to look like starting this Friday?

Latz still out. Middle of his throwing program. Riley Smith has a sore shoulder. Cody Ducote is cleared to play but needs to see some live pitching first. Lochridge got an MRI on his back.

We are hitting well as of late. Fraley and Duplantis are the stars but you're getting good production out of KRob, the twins, and even Pap and Deichmann. Defense has been solid. We are really really good up the middle.

Lineup:

KRob
Fraley
Duplantis
Beau J
Bryce J
Deichmann
Pap
Reid
Freeman

Duplantis is going to be the next star. Kid is so fundamentally sound at the plate as a true freshman. It's astounding.

What happened to Lochridge for him to get injured? I had heard Reid has been outstanding.

Good start to the year. Pitching isn't as great as we hoped but the young bats are better than expected.
Duplantis and Fraley are both hot at the plate. Kramer has been surprisingly good at the plate.

Reminds me of Bregs freshman year at the plate.

No lie.

Pulled a back muscle. Reid has been okay. Nothing outstanding but playing well at 3B. PM has hinted that Dawson may get some time over there as well.

Jordan Romero still impressing with the bat. If the opposing team is throwing a lefty he has done enough to get the DH. Pap's bat has come to life, so don't know if Romero will get a day behind the plate for the SEC weekend schedule.

Romero will get at least one day behind the plate a weekend in SEC play. I think Lange will always be caught by Pap just because of the amount of dirt balls he throws but the other two starters it doesn't matter. Giving Pap a break from catching is noce for late in the year. Having two quality catchers that can both hit is a very very good thing.

Also helps that Romero's teammate of 6+ years, Ben Braymer is very similar to Jared Poche. So Romero might catch Jared for Papierski's rest day. Especially the night before Papierski is having to block 10+ 57 foot spiked curveballs.

Lineup is much more solid than anyone expected preseason, bullpen seems to be the weakness, which no one expected. Team will probably bat around .290 and bullpen will have guys step up. So far Caleb Gilbert and John Valek have been the most impressive new pitchers. Obviously Antoine Duplantis on hitting side, but really liking what we've gotten from Kramer Robeetson and Cole Freeman in the middle in field.

Consistency on the mound is a concern but it's early. This team scores runs pretty efficiently which will need in sec play

Who would have thought in preseason that we would be near the top of the league in hitting and near the bottom in pitching heading into conference play

Don't forget about Freeman. Very good at the plate and can fly.
