I don't like the way field turf looks. It still looks fake to me. I want to see dirt and blades of grass flying in the air, not black particles. I want to see mud when it is raining and dirt on uniforms.

Whatever LSU needs to do to grow decent grass, they need to do it. But that should be the focus, not field turf.

like when they wasted millions just a couple years ago to re-do the entire drainage system etc just so it can still look like shite? How many more years of shitty fields until we can switch?

Why don't you fake people run on down to N.O. and become a Fulane Tan.

Both of "Fulane's" stadiums (Superdome and Tad Gormley) have better playing surfaces than Tiger Stadium

I would prefer field turf, yes. #1 It looks better #2 It plays better #3 The way we've recruited this decade, who wouldn't want to be playing on turf as much as possible with our team speed

1) LSU recruits as well as anyone in the nation
2) By virtue of this, LSU has a lot of speed
3) Having to play on soggy, clumpy, shitty fields late in the season negates speed during the most crucial part of the year
4) Having field turf does not

yurp durp durp

Florida doesn't have these issues.

Just wait until October. We will be back on green sand.

It won't take that long. I agree with the previous caller that said football is meant to be played on grass. Since we're playing a lot of football on sand these past few years, I opt for the artificial "grass".

It's tempting. Although, I will have to use their message board once I make the switch. I heard they don't have a lot of emoticons over there. I might miss seeing all of them accounted for in your posts.

Y'all are all idiots. The field is going to be much better this year. The grass has to mature, and it will be this year.

Turfgrass is much safer and cooler for the players. An afternoon game is Sept. could easily get to 120 in BR. New studies also suggest that field turf is not sanitary. Infections from "rug burn" are common, and the turf allows the staph or whatever bug to perpetuate.
Turfgrass could be made a lot better with a proper maintenance program. It, apparently, has not been a priority. It takes a whole growing season to get it right. They can't just show up in Aug and expect to get it done. Call me I can help!

I used to think grass was the only way to go because of tradition, etc., but my tune has changed the last couple of years.

We need a high quality field turf. If we play in the rain, or even if it has rained in the previous 24 hrs, the field is absolute CRAP to play on.

Out with the old, in with the new, IMO.

#4 save money on ground crew/fertilizer/money/etc

This wouldn't save any money because the field crew is composed of volunteer junior high kids with fourth graders as assistants. At least that's what it looks like.

As much as the thought of Field Turf in TS makes me want to , it would be preferable to that horticultural embarrassment (and the subsequent LSUAD/Delicate Genius's batch of excuses) that we see every year.

Yeah, let's sink to the level of OleMiss. Nobody else in the S.E.C. seems to be having a problem with their football turf. If you've ever been to another stadium in person or watched games on TV, you'll know that all the other S.E.C. schools have really nice fields.

We've discussed ad nauseum ad infinitum what the problem is at LSU.

Well, lets just see what the turf looks like this season after the TS seeded/sprigged grass (as opposed to sod) has had another year to fill in and thicken up. That's what the DG's told told us was the main problem last year. Let's see how it looks for Vanderbilt and how many games into the season it takes before it starts to uproot. (Or NOT, if the problems have been corrected).......

I forgot we planted Kentucky Blue Hemp Superturf a couple of years ago. Yeah, let's scrap the field turf.

It's struggled because our grounds crew hasn't been giving it the necessary 28 hours a day of sunshine
