Oops. My fault. I switched up the '14 and '16 games.

Give us some examples of this.

Wait, are we talking about the 2014 Wisconsin game, or the 2016 game? Because I think fewer people thought Wisconsin had a shot in 2014, but after LSU had to come all the way back from 17 down to barely pull off the 4-point win, more people were giving Wisconsin respect in 2016.

Media guys always look for reasons to pander to the biggest fan base. Keep that in mind.

That Wisconsin team wasn't replacing nearly as many starters as Texas will have to.
That is actually an understatement! If I remember correctly they were one of the teams that were returning a high number of starters! Kind of like is this year!!!!!!!

I’m not as confident as I was a month ago. I can’t help but think about the 2016 hype around LSU leading up to the road game against Wisconsin. Eerily similar if ya consider the talent on that team and how no one thought Wisconsin had a shot.
Not even close!!!! As everyone knows the most important position on the field is QB. In 2016 our starting QB was Brandon Harris and in 2019 it is Joe Burreaux!
I rest my case!

No going into 2016 LSU fans felt like we were national title contenders and we would beat Wisky by 30+ points.
Our fans believed that '14 was a fluke cuz that was probably the weakest team LSU has fielded since maybe 2008.

how much did those backup Dlinemen really play? The three starting Dlinemen that are gone accounted for 115 tkls and 12 sacks. The projected two deep along the '19 Dline accounted for 48 tkls and 0.5 sks. Two of the backups didn't play last year. One is a new juco and the other is a RFr. The two new starters at DE did have five starts between them last year.
One of their starting LBs started six games last year. he is the leading tklr returning from the front seven (33 tkls). He finished as the #11 tklr on the team.
Texas lost seven of top 10 tklrs on team. That will be hard to replace. As much as the LSU Oline gets blasted on here I see them controlling the LOS.
Tigers by two scores.

This comment from Joe Brady should give you some confidence. The offense has been having some success against this defense, which should be real good.
quote:
“Whatever expectations I had going into spring have been surpassed because of these guys, so I’m like I guess we can even do more, and they’re sitting there like ‘Coach, let’s go.’ We can keep going. Our guys are playing confidently, and when guys are playing confidently, they’ll believe in whatever you come up with. If they believe in the system, it doesn’t matter what plays you’re calling, they think it’s gonna work. The guy down the hall, Dave Aranda is the best defensive coordinator in the country, and when our guys see that we’re having success against them, this stuff works.”

No, no, NO. This is a terrible matchup for Texas. Firstly, they lose three starting OLinemen, the replacements for which will be matched up against a GD wrecking crew. This is why they will lose, you can’t do anything without protection, you can’t run, you can’t pass, all you can do, as we’ll soon see, is drop back and get your arse ate up by players who should be playing pro ball if we’re being honest.
Secondly, no one loses 8 starters on defense and is okay. By season’s end, yes, but this ain’t the end of the season. Big Dick Joe is going to break his foot off in Texas’ defense. The difference will be LSU returning 4 starters on the offensive line, losing only Brumfield, at our strongest spot depthwise. That unit will be matched up against a DLine that returns a staggering 0 starters from a year ago. Who can say with a straight face they like Texas’s’ chances? You’d literally have to be dumb as a pile of dogshit to pick against a team that returns eight starters on offense vs the team that returns 3x starters on defense. Furthermore LSU returns 8 defensive starters, against 5 returning starters for Texas.
Lsu is better at every position matchup, from Coach to kicker, without exception.

...was wrong. I, and many LSU fans I know, definitely thought Wisconsin had a shot - especially at fLambeaux Field.

Any idea where the team will stay? One of those new airport hotels?

The Georgia bowl game is irrelevant.
Many teams are flat or not focused for a bowl game after a disappointing season.
i.e.
Alabama vs. Utah
Let them be overconfident

Sure it is and I’m excited and since were stating the obvious also a different staff But from a talent and hype standpoint not a lot different.

I don’t know dude, that 2016 team was loaded with talent. It’s a shame we only went to the Citrus with those guys.

I don’t see how UR wins when they have to play 8 guys in defense who did not start last year against a seasoned QB, receiver group and OL. I may be generous saying the OL is seasoned, but we are not rolling out 5 guys with 0 starts are playing time in big games. As far as dominating Georgia , did BF even watch the LSU Georgia game. It was played when something was actually on the line for Georgia. Our OLine dominated their D line. Our defame shut down their offense (after we adjusted to line the DT straight up against the center). Sam is a very good QB, but so was Fromm. I don’t see UT winning this unless we have 3 turnovers or JB cant play.

I agree that Herman is a great recruiter and coach.
The proof of that is he was the QB coach who brought Burrow to OSU.
Now he will get to watch that "Recruit" lead LSU to victory.
