Livermore, California. We had a Philco radio that could pick up WWL on my father's workbench in the garage. We'd sit out there and listen to games broadcast at night.

When I was in the Air Force, I listened to the 1970 LSU-Ole Miss game in Denver by holding the radio next to the pipe in the bathroom of our barracks.......the whole country saw the game except our area. When I was stationed in Alamogordo, New Mexico, my wife and I drove up in the mountains to Ruidoso and could get a clear signal. Later, we lived in Midland, Michigan and I could catch the game by putting the radio on the floor heating ducts. The duct would pipe the sound all over the house.

In 1974 my uncle and I lived in Miami. We could pick up the games in a specific location off of Collins Avenue on Miami Beach next to the Fountainbleu Hotel. We would drive to Miami Beach every Saturday and listen to the games.

Waterloo, Iowa. (northeast Iowa)
My grandparents live up there and back in the days before widespread Internet access I was trying to get the score for a LSU baseball game. It was a little scratchy but I was able to decipher that LSU had indeed won the game.
The Big 870 is awesome.
Unfortunately, it does not come in on this side of the Rocky Mountains.

Really? I stand corrected. Guess I'll have to try pulling in the big 870 in Oregon and Washington. Very impressive. My brother lives in Pullman (about an hour south of Spokane) so I'll ask him to try it and see if he can get it.
