Those recommendations include the reduction of full-padded practices from 21 to eight, limiting each team to two full scrimmages and banning full-speed collision drills like the "Oklahoma Drill" in which two players fire off the line of scrimmage and hit each other while surrounding by a circle of teammates.

Bye Bye Big Cat

Sounds like injuries will be rampant.

For what reason are they making these changes? Covid or “player safety”?

This is going to show how much these coaches across the country actually care about their players from top to bottom. 0% chance I’d let my team go into the season completely unprepared and unconditioned to get hit full speed, these men need to be men and speak up, do the right thing, and tell the NCAA to frick off. Way too many kids are going to get unnecessary career ending injuries over pointless virtue signaling

Didn't some team do this and absolutely regretted it? I almost want to say it was an opponent of ours?

I can barely remember it.

It was either last season or 2019.

teams who have been decimated by injury and/or scholarship reduction have done it out of necessity at times. I know Lane Kiffin had to do this when he was at USC. He wanted to minimize losing players to injury at practice when he had a limited number of scholarship players due to their NCAA sanctions

Big Cat is not “Oklahoma Drill” and is not a full speed collision drill. You do go full speed but it is short impact and players aren’t close to being able to give their max force. In reality it is a low pad drill.

I think it was Navy. They practiced all year with tackling dummies and got crushed by BYU. It was borderline embarrassing to watch

Navy - last year. Not a good outcome for them at the start of the year. There may have been others.

Yeah. Their coach openly admitted he fricked up.

This is when ‘passive aggressive’ works real well. ...just say ‘sure, we’ll do that’.
