I haven't seen him this year but last year he had alot of problems finishing hitters. He had nothing to put them away with. He'd get ahead, waste 1 or 2 and end up in a full count or get barreled up. Obviously not enough contrast between his pitches, or something that was tipping hitters. And, I feel like he was a more middle to upper part of the zone pitcher, instead of really getting underneath barrels.
I think Wes can do alot for him, especially from a mental standpoint. Money is a very emotional pitcher, up and down. And, that's fine if you channel it properly.

His fast ball is flat & east to hit.
Should be a reliever. Can bump up the fastball & throw more off speed.

Just to add to the last 2 posters, from last year I think he had a tendency to miss his spot and when he did it was dead middle of the plate. Seemed like 2-4 times an inning this was happening and when it did he would pay for it. Was doing the same pre SEC play but was just able to overpower the other teams. Same thing with Floyd and then we saw what happened when he didn't have a secondary pitch he can count on.
If Money can get more consistent on working the outside part of the plate and the very top of the zone I think he would be dangerous. Problem was when he would miss the top of the zone he was missing down and it ended up dead center of the plate.

No criticizing at all, but would love to see an XBH column added. Thanks for putting together
Had a little time to get it updated and figured I would post in here because a couple things stood out to me.
Guidry has 8 hits with 7 of them being for extra bases. He also has the most RBI on the team so far. So apparently under pressure when he has runner in scoring position, he has been successful.
Not as surprising as Guidry, but Tommy White has 10 hits with 8 of them being extra bases. Guess that one was expected.
Morgan with 9 hits and 6 being for extra bases is nice. He should be a double machine come the spring.
Merrifield with 12 hits and I was surprised to see that 6 of them was for extra bases after last season it seemed he was a singles hitter and that was all.
Beloso with only 2 XBH out of his 7 is not really what you wanted to see. The DH spot will need more power than that. He gets on base but he isn't the fastest guy in the world either. So walks and singles don't help all that much.
Players with 0 or 1 XBH Mic Paul (0), Stevenson (0), Nippolt (1), Milazzo (1), and Thompson (1).

You da man! Good stuff brether
Need this context for guys like Beloso, Nippolt, Milazzo, Stevenson.
And Guidry & Merrifield on the other end. Bodes well for them

Agreed. The only one I don't think it matters as much for is Milazzo. His defense is too good. If he is moving the lineup with productive at bats then I don't care about the XBH.

Fastball is flat and he gives away his off speed pitches.

Merrifield has had a really good fall at the plate. Nice to have him as a Covid bonus player, along with Dugas and Beloso.

I don’t think Jay will allow Milazzo to hit .160 and play everyday. If he can hit .240 he’s prob locked in for most nights. But that would take a huge jump.

Too many options for him to hit .160 and play. I was strictly talking about the XBH. If he can draw some walks, sac bunt, move runners over by hitting behind them, and get a couple hits mixed in then he will play over the others that will get more XBH because his defense is too valuable.
With how good the pitching staff will be, especially the starters, you will need an advanced catcher defensively to handle them.

I know many would disagree but if I had to make a rotation TODAY it would be Skenes, Taylor and Floyd. They seem to be the most on fire at the moment pitching this fall, striking out a ton of guys with solid WHIPs.
I fully realize Shores, Noot, Hurd and Little will play a factor into the rotation though, we just havent been able to see a ton of them yet. I'm merely looking at what we've seen so far this fall and if we were to play a 3 game weekend series this weekend that's who I would go with at the moment.
Doesn't seem like Blake Money has made any strides to get his name back in the conversation for the starting rotation.
Like what I've seen out of the lefties Cooper and Primeaux especially. Primeaux giving up 1 hit in 5 1/3 IP while striking out 8 is great despite walking 6. Nate Ackenhausen you can see stuff there as well with him I think, control being the main concern.
Moffett and Shores would be my early closer candidates throwing 98 but Moffett seems to have some control problems though.

Looks like Hellmers still struggling. I would assume he is one that possibly might not make the cut?

There's some injuries still being sorted out before we even need to get to actual cuts honestly.
We had 3 guys not even pitch yet. 1 other guy tried to go and it was a disaster too who was injured in the summer.

Hurd will start by sec play. He’s too good. He’s gonna be a top 5 pick in 2024
