Looks like ULL threw their entire staff with most getting one inning or so

LSU did scrimmage on Fri and Sat so they extended several pitchers in both games

Skenes did not pitch or hit against ULL

Seems like Merrifield at 2B and Jones at DH is also trending. I still think Dugas will get first crack at 2B, but you just cannot overlook what Merrifield has been doing. Skenes, Beloso, and Jobert are also probably in the DH mix.

I don't think SS is anywhere close to settled. Thompson has hit horribly. Guidry is an obvious option there, but I think they're looking at Nippolt and even Merrifield there, too.

So many options.

ULL started their big transfer from LSU-E in game 1. It didn't go very well for them.

Infield, yes. But overall lineup options are endless. Kling and Neal both play infield, too, if we wanna go full on offense.

Kling and Neal will not touch a middle infield spot while at LSU.

They've both already played infield in scrimmages.

Merrifield will definitely be one of the big things to monitor once they start scrimmages in the spring. If his production carries over then it will be hard to keep him from getting some early time.

Not only does he have the highest AVG and OBP, but he has the 2nd most XBH behind White. Also only has a 9% K rate.

He also was pretty much benched last year but still came back and competed. He's an older player, with what seems to be a good demeanor and the characteristics that contribute to good clubhouse chemistry.

Jones has really impressed me, I think he is your DH as of now.

Merrifield hit well last spring & fall but it didn’t translate quite like I thought it would. I do think they were a little short with him though.

Merrifield hit early but it fizzled out quick once the competition got better. What is most impressive so far to me is the XBH from him. He seemed like he was mostly a single hitter last season without much pop.

Also, since the baseball conversation seems to be here, I posted the overall stats earlier this morning through all scrimmages so far but it got buried to the 2nd page if any of you missed it.

Merrifield was overmatched when he saw SEC arms, or at least that's what it appeared when he was in there - but they really just went away from him altogether when Berry moved to 3B - he didn't get much of a chance. He was also wildly out of position at 3B - he's a 2B through and through. Being uncomfortable/struggling on defense can bleed over to the plate.
