We know there are some coaches who aren't above faking positive covid tests in order to force opponent's players to sit out future games. Say for example Lane Kiffin wants to frick with Saban so he reports a couple guys with positive covid tests after the Ole Miss/Bama game and forces Saban to play without several starters the following week. We could do the same thing to Auburn before they play Bama should we need to ensure that Auburn loses that game for the SECw standings. How the hell can they prevent this if we can't even keep hospitals honest?

So I'm assuming the SEC is putting a policy in place that would cause Saban to sit players that have not tested positive simply because they were on the field with players that "did"? AND the SEC is going to be dumb enough to not verify said cases?

Damn, you're pretty stupid, OP.

This is why the testing will have to be done by the league and not by the individual schools.

The faking coach would have to sit most of his own team the next week.

Quarentine (or sitting) based off of contact (traced or otherwise) just isn't in the cards. It may prompt testing, but all will depend on testing, not contact. Test negative- all good.

I imagine the testing periods/routine eliminates even considering contact. I'm pretty sure it will be quite frequent.

Agreed, needs to be done by the SEC not the school. Yes because of the possibility of shenanigans but also because of privacy rules (yep, believe it or not if someone tests positive it is still private and you can't disclose it publicly even with the hair on fire we're all going to die mentality) and because it will be a nightmare for each team to get and maintain the facilities (labs) to process said tests.

If I had to guess schools medical staff will perform swabs (or blood takes?) and then it will be couriered to wherever the SEC has setup the labs. All schools will have to use the same test, test type, testing regime, and test process. To ensure that the testing needs to be centralized.

Example: if we can find out what test gives the most false negatives, then we use that. Which is bad, defeats the whole point, and could result in quite a bit of spread. But there is no doubt some would go that way. Not to mention the lawsuits and the revolt by some of the players if they find out. But some would do it anyway.

I guess none of yall read the release from the NCAA a month ago?

quote:

Football players will be subject to a PCR test within 72 hours of competition. If a PCR test can't be performed within that window, games should be postponed, canceled or an alternate method of testing will be developed and agreed upon. Any player who tests positive for the coronavirus will be forced to isolate for 10 days and only allowed to return to action after at least three days without symptoms. Players who are found to have been in "high-risk" contact with others who have tested positive will have to quarantine for 14 days. High-risk contact is defined as being within six feet of an infected person for more than 15 minutes in which one or more individuals are not wearing masks.

What the hell makes you think that if one team has 3 or 4 guys who test positive, the opposing team would have to sit the same number of guys? To be fair? Let’s punish one team because the other had some guys who went to a bar and got COVID

Can't see it happening either and if it does the media scrutiny would destroy that head coach

There's one thing that I feel pretty confident about:
We will see or hear about, some sketchy COVID instances in NCAA football this year.

Coaches need to warn players and insist that they stay out of the bars during the season and be aware of their surroundings when in public.
Especially, the high profile players.

CRAZY SCENARIO:
Imagine if COVID was a thing last year while we were making a run at a natty with Burrow at QB.
Let's say we have a bye week before a big game, like BAMA. The line is LSU -3. Some crazy arse bets the house on BAMA +3 because he was able to intentionally infect Burrow with COVID. A couple days before the game, news breaks that Burrow has tested positive for COVID and will have to sit out the game. Vegas pulls the game, but this dude's big bet is already placed Bama +3.

Bama wins the game and crazy arse wins a ton of money.

As insane as this sounds, a similar scenario can happen, especially when there's money involved. Coaches need to remind players of the potential dangers and to be cautious when in public. And to a higher degree when they are around people that they do not know.

What about that makes you think coaches will be able to get away with reporting positives that didn't happen? It flat out says they are going to test them.

Damn, you really are as stupid as your posts.

The only program I see doing this is Florida. But they would fake it to push a game back.

If Brennan sees Harvey walking towards him coughing... take him out. In fact AU and LSU should jointly keep his dumb arse under surveillance. But, alas, there's always another Gump to take his place.
