they obviously trust the offense moreso than the return game, which is hard to argue.

i dont like it, but i get it. CEH being back there to begin wit tells you we are ultra-conservative on STs

Wait, am I missing something? We fair catch at the 5 yard line and take possession at the 25?

The rule was changed a while back. I had to explain that to another guy yelling at Clyde last Saturday. He though that he fair caught it on the 5 yard line, so that's where we were going to start.

Maybe already discussed, but why did we fair catch every kickoff in the bama game? Seems like every kickoff came down around the 3-5 yard line.

Why risk getting tackled inside the 15, or getting a penalty that puts is back inside the 15 or a turnover when literally no one has shown any ability to stop our offense.

Honestly it’s a great coaching decision to fair catch kickoffs

We are talking kickoffs not punts.

Have you been watching games this year?

Penalty prevention has got to be a big part of it...no blocks in the back that have us really backed up...I think it is a good move

I understand it , but I don't like it for it to be used during the entire game. If its a close game and the other team just scored, I don't mind playing it safe.

On the other hand. We have a tremendous kick returner that can be used. ( Trey Palmer) Catching and returning kickoffs is a lot safer than catching and returning punts. I think we should be using Trey Palmer back there.

The guy has awesome speed and crazy good vision.

Given that the ball goes to the 25, I've often said that a player who catches the ball in the endzone or just short of the goal line and doesn't fair catch it should be benched. Too many risks when you get decent field position, especially with our offense.

1. Fair catch puts the ball at the 25.
2. Our offense has show an incredible to go 75 yards and score TDs.
3. Why risk a turnover on a return when 2 is possible?

The rule changes have been made to discourage kickoff returns, and that's exactly what they do. In addition, Bama can put 10 athletes on the field that are as good as an NFL teams coverage unit. You're not likely to get a good return against them.

getting a penalty that puts us back inside the 15

I think this is a big part of it. It is amazing how often kickoff and punt returns are called back on penalties.
