I saw him play once. He was probably the best player on the field, but that wasn't saying a whole lot given the competition. He was athletic, threw a nice ball, and was fast. He scored on a 90+ yard QB scramble in the game I saw.

From what I remember, he was pretty intent on coming to LSU regardless, so I think that kept anyone else from really offering.

I keep hearing that the coaching staff is high on him and thinks they have a diamond in the rough, but as far as how that translates to actual playing time, who knows. I doubt he'll ever see the field in a meaningful situation, but at this point, Garrett wasn't going to either.

So if he had another star to go with his name the Rant would love him. What do the coaches who see these kids everyday know that we don't know? Everything. Last night was a joke as to the guessing game as to why and how Garrett left the team. Now we have knit wits bashing a kid who turned down scholarships to walk on to the team that he loves. You ignorant people are the real joke and you're not funny. Kinda sad little peeps.

#101 QB prospect on Scout.

He was #28 dual threat on Rivals, and Gary Crowton likes dual threat.

I tend to value a kids offer sheet way more than his "star appeal." Looking at his film, really doesn't say a lot either way, but if he went to camps and came out without any legit offers, it worries me a bit.

If he ever steps on the field in a real game with the game in question we are S.O.L.

If he ever has to play we will be in deep trouble. He won't ever be a good sec qb.

We've been over this. Rivals splits them up. Being number #28 dual threat doesn't mean he's in the top 50 - 75 overall.

Pretty much my worst fear, but LSU is looking at a scenario where he actually may be forced to be in action this season.

Baily is a 3 star on Rivals.

Colt McCoy was a 3 star on Rivals.

Sam Bradford was a 3 star on Rivals.

You never know. Baily has the physical ability as does Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, and Russell Shepard. The question is can he handle the mental part of QB? That is what has been lacking at LSU.

Look at their offer sheets. The stars don't mean a lot. Neither does looking at his film.

This is the right answer. He made it pretty clear he didn't want to leave BR, and I know for a fact he could have had a scholarship at other state schools.

My boys played with him at U-High. Good physical specimen and he scored a number of times on QB draw's and keepers from distance, as once he got through the line, none of the DB's we were playing were going to catch him. Pretty good arm and touch, pretty elusive, and really, really fast. The comparison to Hatch is not bad but (based solely on HS), better arm than Hatch, certainly faster. Can't remember what his parents told me last Fall about the greyshirt, like whether he was working out with the team or not. He is very bright (honor student), so maybe he can decipher Crowton's 5" thick playbook. Lord knows the other two don't seem to be able to.

It would seem to me that he needs to put on about 20-25lbs.

Any kid that can walk-on and compete at this level has to be worth something. None of us can tell the future and you never know how a player will perform until they're thrust into the limelight.

Sounds like the kid has the heart and the desire to play for the team he loves and is doing whatever he can to put himself into position to take the job.

He doesn't have to be a world beater out there right now.

He just has to intelligently lead the offense and have some level of athleticism.

That, in itself, would be an improvement on the last two years.

Do you have any evidence that his offer from UAB was not committable? I've never heard that. Otherwise, your statement is flat-out false.

The guy is going to have a greyshirt and a redshirt under his belt. He will be like a 20-year old freshman. What he did in HS is pretty irrellevant at this point.

From BB's (great nickname!) highlight video, he looks like he is very capable. But the best thing is he plays from under the center. So many QB recruits come from systems where they work from the shotgun, like Russell Shepard. The transition from shotgun to under the center is major and many QB's don't ever make the transition!

He's a backup. Not a starter.
