I agree with the OP. It's a monopoly, and assuming Bama is clearly the 2nd best team in the country is naive.
They may be, but they should have lost their chance at a national title when they lost at home to LSU. Give someone else a chance. You never know. Oklahoma St. maybe the best team in the country.

What kind of bet do you want to make about the ratings of this LSU-Bama game being higher than the Auburn-ORegon game?

I can't remember a season with so many sore losers. Nobody will admit we actually beat them and they didn't just give us the W.

and for the record, i'm against a re-match, but won't whine about it if it happens.

The reason why some people may not watch is because PAC12 and Big12 people are use to seeing highly powered offense and piss poor defense resulting in high scoring games. They think LSU vs Bama is boring football. That is the only reason some may not watch.

the greater the perceived chance of a close match up the greater the ratings. thats a FACT and prb the only one here (outside of the fact that LSU is hands down the best team in the country right now)
this is why they spend so much time hyping up underdogs. I agree a hundred percent that Alabama had their shot (at home) and that a team of equal record that is CC deserves a shot over them...
that being said i think far more people will tune into LSU vs bama over LSU vs VT...bc everyone knows (or for sake being PC thinks they know) who will win LSU vs VT.
ratings are all about the ceiling of hype. its really a lesser of two evils for the networks, i think. "potentially close but rematch"> "prb blowout of new team." in regards of ratings
however if Ok st or VT look dominate then they migghhht have some sell ability.
LASTLY we all know the Notion of what is "fair" is irrelevant. Espn/media controls the publics perception of what "will" happen, and they will project whatever they think will yield the most for them..(hence why ND never goes the frick away)
Summation: best potential ratings are prb LSU Vs BAMA. ANd what is "fair" doesn't really factor into the projection(ipso-facto desires) of the media.

I'm still trying to understand why you are posting this on an LSU board and attacking Les Miles for something we have nothing to do with. We are #1. We will play whomever we are told we have to play. Miles was being polite when he said he would be honored to play them again. He knows it's not up to him to decide who we play and his job is to advocate FOR LSU, not AGAINST anyone else.
I'm guessing this Oregon tool is still butthurt over the whipping Les put on his team and is just looking to take shots at him.

The others you are talking about also lost their shot by losing. Only difference with Bama is they lost in OT to the clear cut best team in the Nation.

I like the phrase "walled everyone out"
So what....the SEC has a BWW-esque system to frick with the games?
They made you lose to USC? They made OSU and OU lose their games to sub-par competition?

I actually agree with everything in this post. frick Bama. There is no reason whatsoever they should be rewarded for losing at home and sitting at home while their probable opponent is playing in a conference championship game.

I have been communicating with many blog authors all around the country and it is very clear the rest of the nation does not want to see SEC vs SEC for the BCS Title game and the whole country will boycott watching it.
Have you been on Coast-to-Coast yet? I bet the Aliens had something to do with it... or maybe it was part of the Mayan end of the world thing...

Yeah.
I am not a fan of the rematch, but all this whining from other teams as if they never had a chance is getting on my nerves.

I totally agree with the OP. Houston is clearly the only deserving team. The whole nation wants to see it.

This is no BS. There is a lot of resentment that the SEC champ has an automatic berth in the BCS champ game and the other 112 teams have to fight over the other one. Is Bama 2nd best, sure, but that's not the point, they had their shot. If Bama is the only one loss team, that seals it, but watch the move toward anyone else if there is an option. The people that pay for he game ain't happy about an all SEC champ game.
+1
Plus look at it this way... The SEC will have already had their special SEC champ game and that game is being played in Atlanta. It is very unfair for the SEC to be able to extend anther round of their internal SEC regular season for the whole rest of the country to be forced to watch...plus robbing all others at having that entry into the big dance.

It's the BCS that decides who goes, in the end. You can't blame the SEC for being good.
